Sorting/displaying the phone contact list

I connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth. The contact list has the Surname first, followed by the FirstName, but it is actually sorted by FirstName. I like the sorting order, but I don't like the display - I'd like the FirstName first. Is there any way to fix it?

Maybe it depends on how it's stored on the phone.
