I found the video below interesting and the other thing the guy above does not take into consideration is the way the load on each tyre changes when cornering at different speeds or accelerating of braking. So potentially you are transferring a large proportion of the mass of the car over 2 tyres when jamming the anchors on.

They generally agree with the first post - EV tyres not necessarily better given the tradeoffs for range etc. The two experts did agree that you basically get what you pay for, in general - the four basic ratings for grip, noise etc. don't capture all the characteristics.

Listening to a bit again now, the garage owner who asked the question was a bit annoying, basically looking for any excuse to keep putting cheap and cheerful tyres on all his customers' cars.

Our local tyre place seemed to be nonplussed at the idea of "EV tyres" and pointed out that the ones suggested were all XL (Extra Load).

A mate works for ATS, has done for 30 years, he told me to watch out for some ev Tyres as they are only 6mm new.

It apparently cuts down on noise if they lower tread to appear quieter.
New tyres normally 8mm deep tread.

Now you can see why the msm report Tyres don't last as long

The Bridgestone Turanza T005 EV fitted to the MG4 (as one of the OE fitment choices) is 6mm from new.
