Hiya, I see some posts in here regarding strange vibration, cyclic rumblings. This is a weird one, not related to the tyres, but remaining at a constant frequency, with the pitch rising and dropping regularly at around 3 second cycles.

I can only describe it as a low pitched Thrumming, definitely not a whine.
It sounds like an electric hum, but loud enough when it comes on around 50-55 to be very noticeable. And on and on it goes till the road noise is too loud beyond 65.

Doesn't seem to affect the driving, though it's been quite worrying for these past few months. I keep expecting to see an orange warning or red light on the dash.
It doesn't happen on normal roads, just dual carriageways, when we can attain a constant speed of over 50 and under 65. It humms up and down constantly, irrespective of speed.

Anyone heard it as well on their ZS?

Don't worry about it, Laurence. It's a Characteristic, of MGs. 🙄
Seriously though, sounds like the same problem that plagues some X Power's.
Although it's probably not. Can you feel anything through the steering wheel.
Although if it's only just appeared, it might not be. Have you been back to MG. For what good, they'll probably be, worth a try though. 🙂👍

Hi Salty, No vibrations at all, nothing untowards at all, just unnerving. It's going in for it's 45,000 mile service next week. It probably won't make the noise when I take it out to show them.... Thankyou for the response. I will revert.

Could it be a cooling fan? Just a random guess, difficult to imagine what could that be ...

Odd noises like this are often caused by loose or damaged under-trays. Not sure if the ZS has such a thing though.
