Stupid new key

OK, so who else is annoyed with the stupid new key shape, and emergency mechanical key?
By having this all separate and just dangling on your keyring it is liable for loss and to damage the plastic chrome and shiny bits of the new key shape.
I have opened the key up, to see if there was space to hide it within the keyfob. However no such luck. I was going to say it is an over engineered piece of plastic, but maybe it isn't engineered at all. There will be a high level of breakages of the plastic lugs when owners replace the key fob battery I'm sure.


Any solutions as to what is to be done with the mechanical key?

I've taped it to the key, but it ain't great!

I've taken them off and put with the V5c - high chance of losing them on the keyring, so hope any emergency opening is only required at home.

Well you don't need to get a key cut. As you have two now and I keep mine separate and in my wallet so doors locked and battery is dead or you locked your fob in car by mistake you can open the driver's door by the key

I'm thinking I'll 3d print some "handles" for mine, then again I may not, I'll probably never have to use it.

It's on the right here, just the stalk as it were with a piece that swivels round to give you some leverage.

Ahh thanks, well it seems like a backwards step not having a slot in the fob for it

The manual tells you how to do that, it describes 3 types of key, types B and C look like ours but they open differently. The battery is a cr2032
