My infotainment system suddenly became really sluggish on the way home today, was fine on the outward trip. I tried 3 forced reboots using the hold home button for 10 seconds but the same. Reversing camera took 5 seconds to come on, navigation 5 minutes! CarPlay not playing music at all.

I have got back and turned it off and will leave it for a few hours and try again, have also rebooted my iPhone just in case it was that causing it.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

John

Had the same problem about 4 hours ago (note that I am in Norway). Coinsidense, or ???

Alot of owners in Norway are reporting this problem. Seems to be some kind of server issue. Also discussed in another thread here.

Same issue for me with my MG S5, in Netherlands. Extremely slow and choosing another menu option took tens of seconds. In less that 1h , in two small trips, I had two infotainment restarts ! Reversing did NOT showed the back view camera ! This can be a very problematic safety issue.

Not having an external connectivity to whatever server and impacting the infotainment to behave like that with the effect of simply making unavailable very important functionality of the car this is an EXTREMELY poor design and bad quality.

Maybe MG can explain why on Earth a simple connect can hampers and make unavailable some functionality which supposed to be in already, in the car always ready for USE ! The infotainment is in there stored and can be loaded, the cameras are in there for use , the navigation info to whatever state was in there updated and saved.....

I like the car .. but with this kind of issue will be easy to destroy the pleasant use and the nice experience.

Not confirmed but seems to be an OTA connected to the E-call system and iSmart app. Hopefully the problem goes away soon.

And me in the U.K., same sort of thing even heater jammed and would not work reset it a few times but still sluggish as per others

Ah right, thanks everyone. Bit concerning that a server issue can make functionality of the car difficult. I have just been out to see if it was the same and it is a bit better but still sluggish. At least it isn’t just my car as I was a bit concerned about a fault. Will see what it’s like tomorrow.

Just had this problem on the way home, android auto lagged about 5 miles behind my current position.

I also had same problems this evening, no reverse camera, blank screen then appears to reboot and very sluggish?? What the hell is going on? Surely it cant be connected to a remote server??

Happened to me about 10.45 this morning. Everything fine on the way to the supermarket. But when I finished shopping and went to drive home the screen was blank and i couldn't turn on the radio. Screen turned on after couple minutes but couldn't select anything. Not even reversing camera. Still like it when I got home. Haven't tried it since.

Mine has been in the dealers for a week, picked it up this evening, sat nav useless, radio stops playing, drivers screen shows what looks like a square screen with a settings cog in the corner. Screen stops responding to taps, or takes ages to act on taps. I purposely did not connect to android auto as I had seen this post before I picked the car up and did not want android auto in the mix.

This sounds similar to issues on Windows 9/10 PCs when Adobe, Office, and other apps were updating and they grabbed all system resources even though they are supposedly updating in the background. In such cases, you often had to wait minutes before a key press in Word would translate to the character appearing on the screen.

This is not particular to MG. Some useful background reading ... possibly!

Yes but the worrying thing is we don’t have over the air updates so today’s issues were likely to have happened when the car was trying to send data back to an mg server or get data from it. Makes me a bit uncomfortable about what really is being tracked on our MGs and why?

There seems to be conflicting info around on this. And there was some sort of news I remember reading on here somewhere (Nov I think) about OTA updates beginning in the new year for the S5

EDIT: Actually, that news may not have been for the S5.

Hi, posted on another page but having the exact same issues on my s5. Just started like 3pm today. Ac, volume, 360 cam and android auto are buggy as anything and slow. Literally debilitates the car its so annoying
