Sudden unusual loudness in petrol engine

I had something weird happen briefly to my ZS Hybrid+ petrol engine today. Not long after leaving home, l was sitting in light traffic when the petrol engine suddenly began running very loudly. I thought at first it was another vehicle bcos l had my sunroof open, but once l closed it, it was clearly my vehicle and it was loud and all the blue & yellow regen lines completely disappeared from the meter. The noise continued into the drive but stopped after about 10 seconds. Then - l mention this bcos l have never seen just solid yellow line going through the system alone, with no blue kicking in. I'm feeling really insecure and watched for warnings, but nothing came up. Any suggestions?

It does sound like the battery generator switching on, even when standing still, and this creates the noise, and revving effect. But, the lack of regeneration lines on dashboard is very strange.

This was a roar and different from the usual loud sound and there were no revs. The regen lines also have never been just yellow (engine to battery?), and then blank when stopped.

I noticed my mode had changed so l went back to my usual, it just charged the battery so much around town, l drove home on just battery. But it wasn't being distributed or something. I don't know enough to guess, l just have to keep driving and I'm distracted by constantly nursing things. I'm just under 1000klm.
