I genuinely hope Tomato Energy sorts there problems out. As I've said earlier, any company, giving, ordinary folk (us) cheaper, anything. Deserves to succeed.
Don't think anyone, "hopes" they go under, why the hell would they. 🤔

My thoughts exactly, why the apparent glee in some quarters? Farouk the CEO messaging everyone and then being criticised for his English, this may not be his mother tongue, we can at least understand the message.

To be honest never thought of it in that way. S'pose he could of put out a perfect pre-written statement. But he's written it as he would say it. Which obviously isn't perfect. But certainly you can understand it. So good on him for that. 🙂👍
 
As DBedford noted, it's social media language. Social media is an informal platform. Had he wanted to give an official, corporate update, I presume it would be a letter or an email from the company.
 
Whilst looking for a business energy supplier I cam across Tomato Energy that absolutely blew all of the others out the water with their quote, so I've signed on the dotted line. I have taken a look at their tariffs for domestic supplies and they're very competitive.

40p Standing charge
5p for 6 hours off peak
23.16p peak
13.37p 09:30 to 11:30 & 22:00 to 00:00
No exit fees.
No restrictions on EV or EVSE all timed.

I'm seriously considering moving from Octopus with these prices, they're well worth considering

Unfortunately you cannot sign up to them as ofgen have slapped a temporary ban on new customers

That happened months ago and is discussed in this thread. Tomato Energy are working through their problems whilst still supply the most competitively priced energy of any company.
 
They've started billing. 50% off "late" discount on bills

Again no communication just started churning out, billed for oct-dec so far but have complained as are they going to try charge me everything up until now in one foul swoop
 
After receiving some emails about resetting my password I can't see my usage anymore. It worked perfectly until a week or so ago.
Even the usage that I was able to see at the beginning of the month is no longer there.
I can see my bills and the tariff though.
Anyone experiencing similar issues?

And you’re complaining? You can hardly claim to be surprised, you must have been keeping money aside for this day. You should be grateful for the discount.

Yes 100% right to complain, they've not billed for months with zero communication to the customer. If they wish to start backpay they should be notifying you about it and giving the schedule.

I think borderline illegal to not offer people options for repayment.
 
I got an email about changes the other day, think it was about an app, I seem to remember it also mentioned a platform upgrade which needed a reset your password.

They have widely published the technical issues they were having and notified customers their intention to offer a generous discount on the energy provided during that time.

If they wish to start backpay they should be notifying you about it and giving the schedule.
Its not backpay, it's a delayed invoice, nothing more and really should not be a surprise to you.

They have offered options, 50% discount on your energy which is no small amount. Its nowhere near illegal, in addition the discounts really sweeten the deal and compensate the customers that have been affected.

I feel your stance and beliefs over this are grossly unfair to T.E., they should present you with your final bill and invite you to find alternative energy provider (I assume you already will be due to the poor treatment you've endured from T.E.?)

Indeed, I really don't get people with this kind of logic.

It's one thing if you've been getting bills that are wrong, and you think you're up-to-date then the company suddenly charged a large sum as a correction, but you know you should have been receiving bills and haven't so it shouldn't be a surprise when one lands to catch up.

I assume this reply is to me (you hadnt addressed it to anyone in particular).

Why do you deem members to be argumentative if they dont agree with you, surely if thats the way you see it, you too tag yourself as argumentative?

Condescending tone, if I was, it was not intentional though I do wonder just what you expect T.E. to do, what you would see as fair treatment, especially as you're accusing them of borderline illegal conduct. Asx I said, in my view it's quite the opposite, I feel they have been very generous in compensation offered.
 
If they were my supplier, I think I would feel happy that they had offered me a big discount.

I understand that as a company they have had issues, but if I had been using their energy continuously during that time, I'd expect to have to pay for that at some point, and would set funds aside in a savings account accordingly.

To get a 50% discount on that bill would be a bonus.
