Travel using rapid chargers is dearer than using a diesel?

Why can't these chargers have contactless payment, similar to buying petrol at supermarkets when they take £1 initially.

The majority I have come across you have to have one of their card and they they take money in advance for when you use it

Yes, it’s very frustrating. They should all be contactless

I dare say that will happen at some point. Not long back they all needed RFID cards, now most on their own app but contactless has to be the way forward. Especially for other family members using the car too - atm means everyone having their own app. Snore. Contactless increase to £45 means no worry about a 50kWh battery going over that amount for a charge either! Unless they start charging 80p+ per unit...

It's a bit different here, but there's fewer choices than on your side of the planet. Each has an app that knows your credit card and deducts the funds when done.
