ZS Hybrid+
Greetings from Cyprus.
We have had the ZS Hybrid+ trophy edition since July 2025 which is a great car and we just had the software update applied to address the over-revving issue. This has mostly fixed the problem, although like a lot of other users here I note that the car generally revs higher now and is a little more noisy overall.
1. Prior to the software update I had a pretty alarming drive in the mountains. For context this was the first time that the car had a fully loaded boot and 3 passengers. It was very hot >30 degrees with AC on moderately.
The over-revving and under revving was so pronounced going both up and down hills with moderate to steep inclines and declines around a lot of winding roads. On occasions I needed to slow down dramatically to to encourage the rev counter to stabilise.
When eventually getting back onto the motorway the car would suddenly over rev even on a flat.
The weight of the vehicle and inclines/declined definitely had a negative impact on the revving.
Has anyone noticed this phenomenon both before and after the update? Any suggestions? I may not be able to recreate the weight and mountains issue anytime soon so I can’t fully check if the update has worked.
2. One thing I have noticed after the update is that whilst using the cruise control, the over revving has still happened, but disengaging the cruise control immediately reduced the revs.
This is a little frustrating as the motorways in Cyprus are perfect for assisted driving and when it works properly it really is amazing.
Has anyone else noticed these 2 issues and has any suggestions?

Apparently there is a new update coming out next month.
Great - thank for the info that's really good news. Did a bit of digging...

"There is information online indicating that MG Motor has been actively rolling out software updates for the MG ZS Hybrid+ to fix issues with power delivery and battery management. These updates began rolling out as early as mid-December 2024 and aim to improve performance in various driving conditions, such as maintaining battery charge on inclines and high-speed driving over 100 km/h. The updates intend to provide a more responsive driving experience by recalibrating the hybrid system powertrain.

Furthermore, there are mentions of global update plans for MG3 Hybrid+ models based on the ZS Hybrid+ platform expected sometime in the second half of 2025. This suggests ongoing refinement and possibly new software releases around October/November 2025 to address hybrid system performance and efficiency.

No explicit details were found about a new software update being tested or generally available exactly in October/November 2025, but continuous evaluation and improvements are stated by MG, keeping the door open for further updates around that period. The latest references for updates focus on improving power delivery and battery charging strategies in the hybrid system for a better driving experience.[1][2][3][4]"
