Turning off the alarm

Is there a way of turning the alarm off when locking the car? All previous cars I've had have had an option in the settings but I can't find one!

Previous cars allowed the internal sensors to be turned off - but does the MG5 have these or just alarm on doors, etc?

No internal sensors on the ZS so guessing not on the 5.

Yes that's correct, makes sense why there isn't an option if there aren't any sensors!

Years ago I used to do a lot of trips to France on ferries and got to know some of the crew quite well. One of them told me not to bother locking my car as the whole deck is covered by CCTV and has security personnel. They also told me never to rely solely on the handbrake but to engage park or first gear as well depending on auto or manual gearbox. Never had anything stolen and I was on a ferry which overshot its entry into Boulogne harbour and crashed into the harbour wall. a lot cars moved and were damaged but not mine which sat exactly where I parked it.

I've also noticed if you press the lock button on the remote when the car is already locked, the alarm goes off.

Isn't that to help you find the car in a car park? It only beeps a few times doesn't it?

I know it goes off here when I sit on the key - so I don't keep them in my pocket when indoors.

My last car (and I feel this one) opens all the windows if unlock is long pressed. How many times I went down after a storm to find the insides of my car really wet...

It is called a panic button in the USA.
A lot of people use it to find there cars also, when parked in HUGE car parks etc.
Hitting the lock button, will sound the cars horn and flash the lights on some cars in the USA.
On the ZS EV - If you have not correctly closed one of the doors and you try locking the car, it will sound the horn once to let you know something is not 100% correct.
Also, if you place the car in "N" and hit the "P" button, then jump out BEFORE shutting down the car correctly, it will not allow you to lock the car with the remote or the button on the door.
Ask my how I know !.
Last week, I had to make a very quick pit stop at the local chemist to pick up some urgent med's for somebody.
So, I pulled up right outside the chemist and selected "N" and pressed the "P" button.
I though I had hit the "STOP" button, but I don't think I pressed it correctly, as I was starting to leave the car at the very same time ( we all know this one.)
I could not understand why the door mirrors had not folded or why the car would not lock ?.
When I opened the drivers door again, I could see that the car was still powered up - DOOH !.

It is a "find your car" feature and you can select whether it just does visual or visual+audible.

You are right, it does the same on the MG5.

From the manual.....page 52 ish

"Lazy Lock" Function *
The "Lazy Lock" function can open or close all the windows
by using the remote key from outside the vehicle as long
as it is within detection range.
Press and hold the remote key unlock button until the
windows start to open, release the unlock button, all
windows will open fully. With the windows open, press
and hold the remote key lock button until the windows
start to close, release the lock button, the windows will
completely close.
