UK 6 foot road restriction

Has anyone tried going through the 6’ road restriction in an MGS5? We have quite a few on a journey home. I have the ZS EV and that goes through fine.

Don't worry, it will fit OK!
A lot of cars are wider than 6'-6" (2 metres) if you include the mirrors (my old Ford Focus RS included).
Technically it's a breach but I've never heard of anyone being challenged.
Width of MGS5 including mirrors is 2.094 metres, without is 1.849 metres.

If you mean a narrow bridge, or tunnel, or a gap between bollards etc. that physically only has 6ft of clearance, it won't fit, otherwise go with the previous answers.

Hunting around the Internet, it would seem that 6'0" restrictions are extremely rare. One in Winchester which isn't physically enforced, and somewhere called Oakhill Bridge near Bath, though I can't find it on the map.

Most restrictions are 6'6" and a few 7'0".

I think that if @Terry2 is encountering several on his journey home, he must mean 6'6"...

Yes - 6’ wide. One of these is on Albert Bridge and some others in Wandsworth, for example.

Rotherhithe tunnel had a Welsh restriction of 2m as well.

The MG ZS EV is 71.2" not including the mirrors and 80.6" with mirrors.
The MGS5 EV is 72.8" not including the mirrors and 82.4" with mirrors.

I guess it depends on how brave you are feeling and will 1.6" make any difference. Also if I remember correctly from my younger days speed makes the car narrower

The Freedom of the City of London to drive your sheep applies to London Bridge, neither to Rotherhithe Tunnel nor Albert Bridge.
