UK version is stripped of magnets

Most likely they couldn't get enough from their supplier so shipped without them. Has happened many times before with a variety of manufacturers.
Happened with some early SR MG4:a they shipped them with the tinted windows (which they shouldn't have had) and some had auto dimming rear view mirrors, which would have been good but they didn't connect them up😁

Yep.

It isn't a hard decision: you have a complete car minus magnets for accessories you don't yet sell in that market. What do you do? Ship it, of course, you'd be mad to wait until 100% of the parts were available (for something like an accessory magnet, at any rate).

Now, if you get one of these, I can understand being cross about the lack of magnets - presumably they are not easy to retrofit either - but then, when you are first you take these kinds of risks, along with encountering other teething problems.

Some will say: "it's unacceptable", but no amount of saying that will change the business calculation.

However, I do think if a part is not included - for any reason - owners should be compensated in some way so that they don't feel they are missing out.

Well, especially because the dealers are still telling people there are magnets in the car and a range of accessories will follow...

It's a pretty clear case of mis-selling, though, if they keep stating this, when there are no magnets. I am not sure they actually realise themselves because I have heard it from three different dealers.

The problem is that they see the logos, and assume the magnets are there, and I must admit, I think I'd assume the same thing.

If it affected me, I would push for some kind of compensation, like free servicing.

However, this is going to fall into the cracks between MG and dealer. MG won't want to pay anything and the dealer won't want to cover something MG should have supplied.

They need to improve their dealer model here: MG should shoulder anything that isn't right on delivery and should work with dealers so people feel like they are interacting with one entity. Other makes are much better at this.

For example, a dealer should never say: "MG won't approve this...". They are MG and they should work together so customers don't have to fight with teo parties.
