UK version is stripped of magnets

I hope the accessories are going to be rubbish. If anything worthwhile comes out and my wife finds out ...

It's going to take a lot of 3d printing and epoxy to make all them slots work and look decent ... 🤕
Surely the first accessory will be a magnet? ;)

I just tried again with a relatively weak magnet (still strong enough for sticking to the phone e.g.) and it didn't stick to the IM points at all. I think the ferromagnetic plate underneath is just a little too far (1-2mm too deep) for the weak magnet to attract. When I try with a strong neodymium magnet however, it sticks very well.

This is from the MG Call Centre, in response to my question.
The markings for magnetic attachment points are part of the global design language; however, certain markets do not include the magnets as standard due to regional accessory packages. We understand this can be misleading and are escalating this feedback to our product team for clarification in future communications.

I think we understand it better than MG customer services.
True. Sometimes it is hard to get to a person that knows what they are talking about or bothers to ask someone that does!

I sent this question to them - The handbook shows a battery heater as being fitted (to enable rapid charging) but there is no info in the manual about how to use it. Do you have any information?

The reply said - Thank you for contacting MG customer care. Regarding your query, to book a test drive, please use the link below to find your nearest dealership to book in: Find your nearest MG dealer | MG MOTOR UK
I hope this helps.

However, IO have had some useful and sensible replies…..

🤣😂🤬

Neodymium = very strong magnet.
Ferromagnetic = metal that sticks well to magnets (eg iron, steel).

Neodymiums will stick well to Ferromagnetic plates, so maybe that was the idea all along? (ie the magnets were always supposed to be inside the accessories, not the seats).

Not sure how people know what they have in their vehicles without taking the seats apart - or are they testing with ferromagnetic plates to find out?

Neodymium ones should be fine regardless?
To be fair what you suggest is exactly what I did. Tested with a simple ferromagnetic, didn't work.
Got a neodymium one and spot on.

Easy to test - take something ferromagnetic with you and see if it ‘sticks’ if yes there are magnets.
Otherwise, take a magnet to the car and if it sticks..

Checked mine on collection and no magnets but there are magnetic plates under the material.

I think you are mixing up terms. Ferromagnetic simply refers to a material that is magnetic, like iron.
Neodymium is a type of magnet, just stronger than the old fashioned type.
An old fashioned ferrite magnet does stick to the points in my car, it is just not strong enough to hold anything on...
