Unusual Noise coming from engine

Hello, I wonder if anyone could help me please .
I have an MG HS Trophy petrol hybrid. I've had it 2 weeks and it has 500 miles on the clock.
What I have noticed randomly, is that when the car is idling, usually around 1400rpm, a strange noise
sometimes comes from the engine. I can only describe it as a slight knocking noise and sounds like its coming
from near the front. It can be there when the engine is hot or cold and like I say, it's very random.
I am worried about it but any advice would be much appreciated, Thank you .

Get it booked in for a check could be something loose, heat shield exhaust bracket the list is endless. It's under warranty so get it back to the dealership for piece of mind .

I can definitely hear something switching on/off , I've been told today it could be the generator charging the battery ? Please forgive my ignorance.

Yes it could be the generator? But to put your mind at rest get the garage to check it over there could be loads of different things without actually hearing it it would just be guess work me thinks?

I can’t remember if it was on here or Facebook but someone was saying their car was noisy on a cold start and mines is similar. Someone posted a snippet explaining the type of engine and injectors and that’s why we get the clatter . But you say yours is both on hot and cold starts . Are you gonna book it in ?

My 3 is a bit rattly on start up until the oil gets to the head.

And I'm getting weird noises from under the bonnet when the power flow is showing yellow. a weird wooshing, woo woo sound, i can't describe it !

New technology maybe brings new noises with it ?
It's reassuring knowing others have noises but hopefully, for all of us, they are normal.

Your car sounds like it's an ex police car if it's going woo woo . Don't know what that description is sorry?

Like I said, hard to describe
It actually sounds a bit like Michael Knights car Kit, when it's front row of lights would go from left to right.

You sure it's not the sound it makes when in EV mode to let pedestrians know you are moving?

No. Only when driving at a steady speed of around 40 mph and the energy flow meter on yellow. Any faster and the noise from the car, road, wind etc drowns out this weird noise

I think you should get checked at dealership just incase something major?
