Upcoming 2026 SUV MGS5 competitors worth waiting for

I was surprised when I attended Everything Electric at the weekend, that many of the new offerings have a range of only 220-260 miles in general. I was expecting the range to be going up on these vehicles in the region of 350 miles plus. Whether is is down to the size of battery pack they can get in, or recent price increases on the batteries themselves in order that they don't overprice the car.
My current MG 4 Trophy gives me officially 272miles, and I'd be looking for something around 350 miles range to really tempt me into changing. If MG would just bring out a bigger battery pack version of the MGS5 it would be very tempting, although I'd have to forgive them for only fitting a manual rear view mirror on the Trophy spec compared to the auto dipping I currently have on mine.

@mdiox, I'm assuming you are driving an MGS5 as your profiles shows?
There is no auto dipping rear view mirror on any of the MGS5 specs for the UK. It's the MG 4 I currently have that does on the Trophy spec for the UK.

My opinion is it's a penny pinching thing.
Can't see it being a tech issue. Why would it be. Even MG can't get an Auto Dipping Mirror wrong. Never had any problems with the one, in my X Power. Don't get me wrong, it's not the end of the world, or would it be a deal breaker. Just seems an odd omission.

Definitely we need a car to get us from A-B we obviously want value for Money and except EV experiance is different to ICE cars. You could drive yourself nuts looking at you tube and social media. Simple I need a car to do x can this model do it, Is it value for money in my opinion
If all are answers are yes buy it. nothing is perfect but my MGS5 ev has exceeded my expectations
so so far happy customer.

You would think they couldn't get it wrong but I remember some of the early SR models had the auto dimming mirrors fitted but they didn't connect them up

All of these parts like auto-dipping mirrors come from the same 3rd party suppliers across all manufacturers, so it isn't a technical issue - they want to save money and simplify the car's wiring.

There is no perfect car. They are all compromises.

Yep, I've always bought the car I want. (And can afford) Not interested in what others think, including so called expert reviewers.

I have driven plenty of different brands and models in my 40 years driving (though it is my first MG).
There are three important items for a car:

• Safety (in case of accident)
• Reliability (getting you from A to B every time)
• Affordability (99.9% of cars depreciate no matter what)

How times have changed, back in the day.
Who gave a toss, about any of them.
Goes without saying these days, the first 2 are very important. But still not arsed about Depreciation, I'll still get the car I want, when I want, and just enjoy it. Honestly don't give depreciation a 2nd thought.
