What annoys me about the IM6

I have just taken delivery of my IM6 today. I had same problem with heating. Connect MG app with the car. Lock the car. Turn on heating through app remotely once. This will do the trick for all future use. Looks like it kick starts through app initially just like navigation. Hope it helps. Enjoy your new car, good luck.

To the forum. 🙂👍

Seems an odd omission
While i’m impressed with the software implementation it feels a bit feature incomplete to me - I’m putting that down to the rework for western markets, and I’m sure it will improve. It’s smooth, fast and reliable but not feature rich yet. SIAC want the brand to prosper and that demands great software features

Unfortunately, MG doesn't have a great reputation for OTA updates to add new features, so I would not presume that it will be resolved that way at a later date. No other manufacturers seem to provide fixes and new features OTA like Tesla does, sadly. I am also at a loss as to why one-pedal driving is not available, especially after it was added to later MG4s.

True enough. However, this is an IM just being sold through MG atm. At least in Australia there is strategy to build up IM as an independent premium SIAC brand - and that will require investment in customer service and retention (+ software). I’ve brought premium vehicles and as nice as the people were, the MG customer experience in Oz is NOT premium!

That's not true my Cupra Born has had various updates in my ownership as has my relatives Mégane etech, including updates in relation to the motor.

Wife's MG4 however is a fight at the dealers to get them as they wheel out the line of the car is up to date and there aren't any new ones, despite them being discussed on here.

Definitely the impression I get from the dealers is it's just not worth the hassle for them

Well Tesla cures all with updates, but I fail to see how Renault managing to do both updates to the operating system and electric motor and other system updates OTA is much different
Because of the frequency of the updates and the depth of them. It's not just fixing bugs, it's improving efficiency and adding new features.

It is true that Tesla's OTA system is the most mature, they've had 13+ years to make it so, which isn't surprising. Also, Tesla's model is to never require a dealer visit.

But there's a big cost to this: Tesla has had to re-engineer traditional taken-for-granted features from scratch and has been slow to do so and also buggy in a number of areas - such as auto-wipers, auto-headlights - because they started from scratch and wanted to cut the cost of dedicated and proven hardware for these systems.

Other makers are sort of part way there: e.g. there'll do a bunch of updates OTA, mainly infotainment related and adding easily-implemented features in software. Some also issue updates to core driving systems. Then there will also be dealer-fit-only updates when they are less confident about the results (which is true of Renault, VW and others).

MG has been absolutely nowhere, despite multiple generations of promises of OTA across the MG5, MG4, MG Cyberster and MGS5. Still not a "sausage" to be seen anywhere.

So MG has fix this to be taken seriously going forward.

IM cars are different technology entirely, and hopefully they've thought more about OTA and made it much easier and will launch OTA updates soon.

BUT: until they do, I remain firmly skeptical. I've heard it all before - just like the "semi-solid state battery" - which is also nowhere to be seen and promised multiple times.
