What makes you feel old?

I have trouble with maths full stop!

I was trying to work out 30K at 3p a mile yesterday...
If you need to have 3 pees in a mile, even 100kms would require a very patient crew travelling with you .....

One of my grandfathers died a few weeks before I was born and the other a fortnight before he was due to retire so I knew neither of them and my father died at 72.

Mind you my grandmother died at 92 and my mother at 88 so fingers crossed I have their genes 🤞😁
My father died a week before his 41st birthday, but he was a chronic smoker I think might be been caused by being below deck as a supply clerk during the war and being aboard 3 ships that were torpedoed ... he I think he had survivor guilt ....
My mother died at 68, my sister at 53 .... so having made it to 70, I've outlived my immediate family and most of my cousins ....

I watched one of the Avatar films with my son and his friends and referred to it from then on as a 'three wee film'.
Guy at the car dealership telling me about his impending fatherhood and a party for the mother's dad having to be moved - it is his 50th.....I'm 52.
My daughter, when she was two, walking up to the TV and trying to swipe the screen to change channels.
Bending over and involuntarily letting out a sound (not from there!!)

Got my full one last year, over here at 60 you get one for all public transport including trains, buses and local ferry services for Northern Ireland, the full one covers all services on the Island of Ireland which is rather nice.
That's definitely worth having then, it's a lot more than we get over here. :(

It is a massive benefit which we are fortunate to have can effectively travel all over the Island for free, well it;s not free, transport companies get paid by governments North and South, but over here we have no privatisation, all government owned.

We will be flying out of Dublin in May ( we do so regularly, just down the road and it’s a proper international hub so can fly most places with no need to fly into UK and onwards), as the other half has not reached pension age yet, but has hit 60 so has NI pass she has to pay for her ticket £17.60 return as we are crossing the “border” but I don’t. Given the Airport bus service to Dublin airport runs ever hour, not paying tolls , no airport parking or drop off charges, and they drop you outside the Terminal its a no brainer.

I like bus passes - don’t know if I’ve mentioned that before.

66? I’d had 2 police warnings by then, a police warning in those days coming from a small area where everyone knew each other police officers included was the choice of “ do I go and tell your Mum about this or do you want a slap? “ I went with the slap option and funnily enough I never got any after that……

In '66 I .... well, never mind, but it was also the yr my dad died, so there was good and bad.
We don't get a transport pass here, not that it would be of any value, we don't have any public transport out this far anyway ......

The good thing about getting old is people just smile and nod when you do something dumb, like asking where something in the supermarket and it's right in front of you .... They don't say it but you know they are thinking "it's ok, we understand that can be difficult at your age"
