I milled some timber from a fallen tree with my chainsaw. I felt old when I had to move the planks and drag them to the road to load them on my EV side by side buggy to bring them back to my shed.
They only weighed about 80 kg but it was a struggle to drag them about 20 metres, then load them onto the tray of the side by side.
I was thinking that being 70 now is taking its toll

The site of the original studio on Albany Road is now retirement flats called Cosgrove Hall Court.

Other TV I remember, Z cars, The Liver Birds, Man About The House, Dick Emery. Larry Grayson, Shut That Door! Brucie doing the Generation Game first series (very early 70s?). My Grandad watched all that stuff.

Oh and Pans People on TOTP. Eyes out of his head, the ....... Talking of which, Steptoe and Son!

Food I remember, Arctic Roll, Cresta, Vesta, Smash, Angel Disgust, Texan bar, Space Dust (later). Cornetto I remember Mum buying one in 1976 for the exorbitant price of 18p.

My memory is failing rapidly, but I can't remember the last time Australia didn't win the Ashes

I'm 70 now and couldn't imagine trying to drag 80kgs, but I do remember lifting VW engines and automatic transmissions onto the disassembly bench from the ground without even thinking about it ..... and lifting a 650 BSA Lighting motor in and out of a go cart frame on my own while making up mount plates for it ......

As I approach 77 soon I look and laugh at those feats of strength and extreme prowess above and sit here wondering if I ever did stuff like that ??

I wonder these days how I did it. I guess working in an industry where things were heavy, but still within the reality of being able to lift and place them by hand, kept the muscles in tune.
I remember going on 14 hr shift shutdowns at Bluescope Steel carrying a tool bag that weighed 80kg .... you had no idea what you would be working on, so take all the hand tools you might need ......
I remember when I changed jobs from dyno tuning, servicing and carburettor rebuilder on cars, back to truck mechanics, the first time I had to fit a flywheel while under the truck, I couldn't pick the thing up ..... got a good laugh from those around, but after a mth working there, the foreman gave me another job to replace a clutch in an F12 Volvo truck, so the gearbox out and clutch and flywheel had to come out to machine the flywheel, and I lifted it out and later back in without much effort, so I guess you become conditioned to the work load requirements.

I had to move a 150Ah deep cycle lead acid battery a few weeks ago, it would have weighed under 50kg ..... and I couldn't pick it up, had to get the trolley and roll the battery part way over to get under it with the trolley ..... I really felt it then, 3 yrs before, I would carry one of these in each hand the length of the workshop, roughly 25 mtrs, to stack them up with the other dead batteries, ready for a trip to the recyclers ..... now I couldn't pick up one

I used to work at an ironmonger supplier and would run with a 25kg box of nails in each hand. Load 2 ton pallets with 20kg sacks of nuts and bolts for the construction trade and cycle 4 miles home without a twinge from my back. Now the thought of it brings on aches and pains.

I must be a couple of years older than you as Mr Ben, Bagpuss etc. started after I went to infant school.
I also remember Andy Pandy, Bill and Ben and The Wooden Tops which aired at 3:45 in the Watch With Mother slot. Also Listen With Mother on the radio
