What makes you feel old?

No longer having to crank the handle on our home phone to get connected to the operator !
Mum having our veg (covered on soil) tipped directly into my mums shopping bag. Getting ups at 5:30am to do my paper round! Snickers being full size and more than 2 1/2 bites !!!
Not some much making me feel old, more making me grateful I'm now old enough and still above ground to living in an age that I no longer have to ask to be connected to make a phone call, or get up early to earn some money or crave a snack bar ......

Another one is, when your trying to describe someone, and you say, you know that oldish bloke. Then you think, Jesus!
I'm the same age. 🙄🤪🙂👍

My friend and I were on the Waverley paddle steamer a couple of years ago. We went to order food and were told to take a seat and our order would be brought over to us. A little later I went back to the service counter to get something to drink, just as our food was being given to the waiter (a bit of a posh title for a lad in a white apron) to deliver.

Just in time to hear clearly "it's for they two auld wummen ower there." We were both wearing masks against covid, too, so they couldn't even have seen much of our faces.

Recently realising that it was now more than 50 years ago that I queued up outside Virgin Records in Corporation Street, Birmingham, to get The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway on it's release day in November 1974.

I recall when buses had drivers and it was conductors that issued tickets from a hand-held machine.

I remember platform tickets.

Seeing childhood friends at my mum's funeral who I'd not seen for nearly 60 years.

I remember, vaguely, requiring platform tickets, no conductors on busses but the ticket was torn out of a sort of book, each ticket a different colour the denoted travel between which sections, that way the inspector, should on be waiting at stop, could easily see if the ticket was valid or not ...... It needed to be easy for the inspectors, they weren't that bright after all ;)
I remember mum having to pay for ticket to use the public toilets near the CWA hall

That's where "spend a penny" came from.
Clearly better equipped than I am, even passing a 1 cent coin would bring a tear to the eye , the 5 cent is the smallest coin now ..... and for that sort of money I'd water a lemon tree :D
