Hydro generator in the down pipes? Solar works great in the snow if you can position the panels to take advantage of the reflection..... possibly a case for vertical double sided panels ..... Anywhere near water when there is light scattered cloud will get better solar that someone further inland, the sun reflects off the water, onto the clouds and back down again giving the solar panel a double dose

I've had the calculation done. Even with state subsidies, the cost of the panels and installation has a downpayment time of 25 years in the conditions here. And that was calculated using a power price 30% higher than the average has been over the last few years.
Add to that, the panels have a lifespan of 20 years, and will degrade over the years, which the calculation did not take into consideration....

The latest all black panels with the soldered busbars behind the cells have an output guarantee for 30 yrs now .... but 25 yrs payback is not a good investment ...

Another thing is that most older households are connected to IT (isolation terra) power net, which isn't really designed to reverse the power, so you can't sell your power back to the grid. Well, you can sort of, but it's complicated and expensive, so not really viable at all.

Newer households are on TN (terra neutral) that has that capability.

Are yes, the full floating supply, no neutral, just line 1 and line 2 ..... It would be suitable for going off grid, but trying to convert it to main/neutral/earth would be a big job, not really worth the effort that's for sure ....

The MG V2L would work fine on that sort of system though, once you isolated the grid supply, so you could have a back up power supply if the grid went down ....

That'll learn me, 29* and 65% humidity, feels like 35* so the weather person says ... feels a lot more tan that outside trying to tie shade cloth over my work area .... another day of getting severely sunburnt is not going to be good for a long life ..... or even making it to the weekend for that matter ..... ever bit of the Tee shirt is soaked in sweat .... I reckon I'd be steamed if I was out in the sun too long at the moment .... not pleasant at all .......

Big floods up North, problem is it's crocodile country, and it's during floods they come out to play, there's lots of interesting stuff in floodwaters, so be very careful stepping out your front door, if the flood is lapping at it.
