Hello all
Just picked up my new trophy last week
In Dublin. Some machine absolutely love it
After driving gen one leaf with 90km range
I will find it strange not plugging in every night lol. It's like a rocket in sport mode
So me thinks normal mode will do me just fine
Some of the reviews I came across during my
Research were not kind about the suspension
But I can't understand what they are on about I think it's sweet as a nut. What's the real world range pottering around no motorways
Will I get 400km? Thanks guys, looking forward to been here
Cheers

Should get that easily in the warmer weather

My son has an old Leaf with a knackered battery and it has a 30 mile/50km range. He says that's fine as the only use of the car is the school run, which is a 16 mile/26km round trip. I am defecating bricks every time I drive it.

The cars are delivered to the dealers with the tyres over inflated to stop flat spots forming while the cars are in transit or storage. Unfortunately a lot of dealers forget to lower the pressure back to what it should be during the PDI giving a choppy ride.

Also they think because it's based on the MG4 platform it should handle like an MG4. Yes it is a little choppy on slower potholed roads but it's an SUV and once on the open roads or with a couple of passengers that problem disappears.

Yep my new MGS5 which i got last Saturday as well is light years apart from my MG5 SR 21plt I use as my work car
The 5 is fun but don't have the refinement of the S5
Still got to work out how to shut up speed nagging voice

Ian, thanks for pointing out the Tyre pressures. My new S5 is a bit rumbly and noisey at 50-55 mph. Checked tyre pressure and they are all at 3.0 bar. What is the correct pressure? 2.6?

Here you go 👍.
The Trophy model normally comes fitted with Bridgestone tyres 🛞.
Definitely not my favourite tbh.
They produce road noise at about 55 ish MPH.

Thanks I'l drop the pressures tomorrow and pump up to 2.5bar. see if any change in rumble/Vibration. Thanks
Yes the Chinese Bridgestones are poor. I fitted Cross Climates on my MG4 after 3 months from new and it was so much smoother and quieter. Is there any tyre garages that would buy the Bridgestones in part ex for Michelins do you think??

Not sure tbh.
I have used a local family tyre 🛞 company for over 40 years, I had a good relationship with them.
I wanted to replace my front two tyres on a VW Golf we had a few years ago.
It had a brand new tyre on the spare wheel in the boot.
But I did not want to fit that make to our car.
I asked the owner if he would PX it for the tyres I wanted.
He agreed and I only paid the difference in price on that tyre, full price for the second tyre of course.
The tyres on the MGS5 are a common size that will fit and be suitable for many different cars ( I have checked ).
You could advertise them and recover a good percentage of your outlay on the new tyres ?.
The earlier you decide the better really.
I replaced all of the Bridgestones on our VW GTE ( PHEV ) with a set of Good Years.
Night and day difference.
Better ride quality, better traction and much lower road noise.

My local supplier did a part-ex on my Bridgestones, but it was after 5000 miles. He didn't give me very much, but it was better than a poke in the eye.

Very slightly changing the subject, are the TPIs usually as wild as mine? I'm not talking about going up and down as they get warmer, but that they vary between them considerably, very often the front left is two psi lower than the rest, but sometimes it's a little bit more, and so on.

How precise would you expect them to be?

I find the same Tim, I set my tyre pressures to the recommended settings.
Then check and verify the pressures with a second independent tyre pressure gauge.
The figures in the car do not reflect these settings, they do fluctuate a lot TBF.
I found the pressures inside the car, did a better job of matching the reading from my own two pressure gauges, on our previous ZS EV.

I've found the TPS readings on both my old MG4 and the MGS5 settle down after a few months. It's almost as if they need running in.

I've got an accurate pressure gauge which I check the pressures after using my tyre pump. I now know I have to put in a couple more psi than indicated on the pump.

Mine is the same Ian, my inflation pump has a digital read out that can be set to cut out pumping when the desired pressure has been reached.
When checking the tyre pressures with a second verified digital gauge, it reads slightly lower than the preset on the inflation pump.
I therefore normally over inflate each tyre by about 2 - 3 PSI and then use the second hand held gauge, to allow a little air out of each tyre, until the reading is bang on !.
But the car still sometimes reports a differential in tyre pressures.
I did find less of a discrepancy of readings on our previous two ZS EV’s though.
Here is a screen shot taken from the readings of my car this morning.
I checking the pressures last week and all tyres were set to 2.5 bar.
The R/H side of the car is very slightly higher than the L/H side.
This is normal in warmer conditions, if the sun is hitting one side of the car of course.
But not so today unfortunately and no strong winds either.
TBH - it’s close enough not to trigger a warning ⚠️ that’s the main concern of course.
About a 3 - 4 PSI difference in an individual tyre, appears to be the tipping point when an alert is triggered.
Although I have seen it can be fooled.
A few weeks ago, one morning I came out to find that my O/S/R tyre was almost flat !.
Had it been the N/S/R - I probably would have just jumped into the car.
I then decided to run the App and check the status of the tyre 🛞 pressures.
Wondering why it had not sent an alarm message to my phone ?.
When checking the App ALL tyre pressures were almost equal ?.
So that is why I never received the warning.
I inflated the tyre and called the local tyre shop.
Turned out there was a large 2” roofing screw that had gone straight through the tread of the tyre.
I think I may have picked up the puncture just before the car was parked up for the night the previous day.
The car was locked and had closed down and gone into a deep sleep, so it was not aware of the recent puncture at that point maybe 🤷🏻.
I thought it may have detected the error when I opened the drivers door the next day ?.
Had I jumped in and moved the car, I expect it would have picked it up straight away 👍.
Like many other warning systems we use today, given the right set of circumstances, they can be fooled and caught out.
