I thought this thread might be useful for people to post their experiences with different STOCK size tires for the XPOWER
My car (NZ) came with Bridgestone Turanza EV tires.
After 30,000km i noticed big chunks of rubber coming out of the tires, even though there was 6-8 mm tread left.
Ive had this before with Turanzas on the old skyline - enough is a enough
Ive bought 4 brand new Mitchelin Pilot Sport 5 tires (235/45 ZR 18 98Y Extra Load outside 09HX)
These are NOT the special EV ones….but the load rating was fine, so …?
Well, I’ve found no difference in noise, possibly the same or better performance (no dragy to measure) - but -
Dramatically worse economy ! Gone from 18ish kwh/100km to 21ish khw/100km.
I didnt think it would bother me, but it does … complicates my long 200km trips, means I need to charge to 90% or so to do it comfortably
Add your experiences with other tires below, for all of us to reference !

I don't think there is the awareness of the importance of EV rated tyres as replacements. EV's are very efficient, and a bit more friction of the tyre will considerably change the economy as @craigupnorth has experienced
To put it into context the MPG-E of the MG4 (64 kWh) is around 170 MPG In petrol terms. The battery pack is equivalent to only 1.58 gallons of petrol, and for a range of 270 miles, just brilliant efficiency.

Yup, I’ll rise my hand to that. I went for the cheaper tire, because I figured the more expensive “special ev” tire was just marketing, or insignificant in terms of range. I was wrong I think. That said - I wasn't happy with the durability of the bridgestone tire. Keen to hear of others experiences with continental 4/5’s or other brands
