This scratching of the edge of bonnet has caught more than a few people out and it is SO easily done.
It only takes someone to lift up one of the blades clear of the glass ( maybe to towel down after the car has been washed ) and it’s done !.
Ask me how I know .
Lesson learnt the hard way !.
There will be a park / service mode for the wipers somewhere, it is likely to be in the head unit menus on the S5.

I wonder if it happened in a car park before I installed the camera. Maybe someone tried to put a leaflet under the wiper.

Mine was even more stupid.

I'd read about this problem so thought I was being all clever setting the maintenance position before lifting off the wipers.

Washed the car (which happens very rarely).

Switched off the maintenance position feeling very smug.

BANG!
as the wipers scraped the bonnet and sprung back against the windscreen.

You could be correct there !.
I hate it when people do this myself.
Only last week, I spotted a couple of guys walking around the car park of our local M&S.
They were going along the rows of parked cars and posting leaflets behind the front wipers.
I stopped one of them and asking him NOT to post a leaflet on my car ( pointing it out in the row ).
He said - Okay fine.
I then asked him, do you think it’s a good idea doing this ?.
Because, if drivers leave the car park and head out onto the motorway close by, what if it starts raining and when the wipers are turned on, they do not clear the rain from the glass ?.
They can hardly stop on the motorway, to remove the leaflet, now can they ?.
NO answer was the reply and they continued posting them regardless !.
