Your day in 3 words.

It's clear you don't have sunny days over there like we have sunny days over here. The smell of melting tar and knowing if you step on it, your feet will burn, even with work boots on, and you will walk tar boot prints with every step ..... and don't walk in the gravel after stepping on the melted tar, your boots get very heavy very quickly and you gain a few inches in height.

Although nice and sunny, it was around 11c yesterday, so good for working in, not too hot. The guy in charge of laying told me they use a retarding agent to slow it's rate of setting as it loses heat faster on cooler days.

A (probably not very) interesting fact about Tarmac/Asphalt is they use different formulations for different temperature expectations. UK Tarmac would probably all melt in your summers!

Whilst in Las Vegas a few years back, it was 45c and the soles of my footwear did start to smell and melt whilst stood on some sections of overheated darker coloured pavement!
