MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Could these possibily be the MG4 demonstrators due for all the dealers gearing up for the September launch?
They made a big press to do of showing the MG4s being loaded on the Titus - I would've thought at least a few of those would be dropped off when it arrives here around the 21st, so there's time to have them delivered, inspected & ready for the launch

I have no ship names, I have no port information. All I know is the cars I have arriving and on what dates. And I’ll be communicating to the people who’s cars are (and aren’t) on those ships over the course of the next week or so
I know you've no ports for the upcoming deliveries, but do you know which ones have been used based on cars you already PDI'd in the past, or have all of those been Portbury? Someone had mentioned that their MG had come via Tilbury...wondered if there were others that we're missing.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think they have PDI facilities at Tilbury. Haven't the few that came in through Tilbury come via PDI in the Netherlands? Also, the workers at Tilbury are striking now, so I would be expecting a serious backlog there.

I think we are all guessing to be honest. I do know that a lot of people are required to empty a few thousand cars from a ship, PDI and get onto transporters to the dealers.
I see the ships being unloaded every week when I go on the Red Funnel Ferry to Southampton. Have never seen an MG yet.
I think it is a safe bet to say most if not all MG ZS models are imported via Portbury where they definitely have teams employed.

I can't say what facilities they have...only that some had been diverted there. Whether that was a one off, who knows.

Unfortunately nobody here is at a port watching 24/7 to know anything concrete , so it'd be better if a dealer can tell us whether anywhere other than Portbury had been used - it'd be interesting to keep an eye on.

I also ordered in November but someone has told me that the actual order wasn’t submitted until the end of January. This year is now looking very doubtful..😞
Yip imm now being told not getting built untill jan then 8/12 weeks after that before possible delivery think I’ll be switching to try get mg4

Having ordered last November and now told it will be next April I’ve cancelled and picked up a cancelled order MG5 LR Exclusive from my local dealership.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd let you know, I think I'm in love with my se lr. It is a dream to drive. My advice to you all out there patiently (and some not so patiently) waiting for their electronic wonder horse to arrive is TO HANG ON IN THERE. Incidentally all the questions everyone asked each other regarding the gov grant, I still got my little beauty with the £2500 grant deducted and at the original 4.9% Apr on the pre-price increase and NOT 5.9% Apr on the present price. So hopefully I have allayed any fears of price hiking that anyone might still have.

Am getting updates every day from all ships that have been in Shanghai to see if MG are using other ports.
I am guessing that it is a considerable operation in Portbury to unload cars, inspect, PDI, arrange delivery to dealers. I cannot imagine that MG UK will have teams set up in multiple ports?
I am guessing that after Southampton it will go to Portbury to drop off the MG 4s.

Citroen Dealer called me up yesterday - got test drive on E C4 on Saturday. Advised that guarantee production slot for delivery December if we order in the next week. If not fussed about colour could get one sooner.

With our MG order still being TBA and people in Leicester getting our exact car in October from March order (ordered ours in Jan) I can see that they are just totally incompetent and the updates are just made up. They are not processing by oldest orders first as per their claim.
The PDI is done at the dealerships workshop

That is great news. Please share the information that you have.

I have been monitoring Shanghai and tracking every ship that leaves to see where it goes.
I also monitor Bristol forward movements to see if that aligns with any of the ships departing / on route.

SAIC May be sending cars to an alternative port in China for export?

We had one chap tell us his car was offloaded in Holland, got PDI’d over there and then loaded onto another ship to be delivered to Portbury. When he got his car the language was still set to Dutch. This amazed me that the dealer did not PDI the car properly and the cost involved to unload/reload cars onto ships that SAIC must be shelling out for.

MG UK may have resource in other ports in the UK to receive the cars, perform checks and distribute? The cost to have these teams set up is not cheap or maybe they send the trained team from Portbury and put them up in accommodation for a few days while they set up hundreds of cars for delivery to the dealers. They will also need to borrow facilities / workshop / ramps etc.

I understand that my car is TBA and awaiting parts so not built yet. I know that I ordered early January and there are still many people in the same position as myself who ordered in November / December last year.

I know that there are approx 400 ZS EV’s delivered to the UK every month.

I know that the order book for the ZS EV is in the tens of thousands - therefore the reason I have not got my car yet.

Last week someone was told that the exact model I have on order was to arrive in October and they only ordered in March. Not sure how this is possible - just reduces my trust in anything that MG UK tell me.

My dealer wrote to the MG UK area Manager for information 3 weeks ago for information. Got mail last week to say no update.

We have had people being advised that their orders are March/April next year - hundreds of them and they Stand to lose out on grants.

My watching Shanghai just gives me an idea of where cars are heading and if it is worth hanging on for a car that may never arrive - after all it is inevitable that at some point SAIC will announce that they are ceasing production of the ZS for a new model. They have already announced that the sunroof has been removed for all new orders.

Over the last three weeks of monitoring there are not many ships heading towards Suez from Shanghai. This just tells me that the chance of all the people in the queue before me getting their cars in the next 5 weeks is low.

Bristol Forward Movements has very little from China - however does have a lot from Japan.

If you have information that there is a tidal wave of cars getting ready to be loaded onto ships for a September delivery please share the information.

This morning I am test driving the Citroen E C4 and then this afternoon I am in a Peugeot E 2008.

It would be great to be armed with more information so that I can make my decision to cancel or hold on.
At least the UK are getting 400 cars per month, here in Israel they started getting orders at January, and only the demonstration cars arrived, with more than 2000 back orders...

Yeah that’s my worry from one unreliable place to another. They say October but which year.

I cancelled my MG order, not the dealers fault but the car allocated to me (rightly or wrongly) was then allocated to someone else and no realistic date for one for me. Placed an order through work not using Tusker and collecting the new EV week of the 10th of October. Good luck to all those waiting I’m sure it’ll be worth it.

Closest I've come to owning my ZS yet..

Last week during a (now) routine check-in with the dealer, I was told that they had a blue long range Trophy in their dealership that just arrived, and that it can probably be assigned to me, but they would need to check. After a few calls for updates over the weekend and not getting anywhere ("they still haven't sorted out allocation yet"), I called today to be told that it's a Trophy Connect, not a Trophy.

So, if you're waiting on a Blue LRTC from Baylis MG, Gloucester - you might be in luck!

What a tease! 🥴
