Hi everyone,

Having my facelift ZS treatment for rust protection, same as I had on my MK1.

Just going over what has been done so far and noticed two adjustable straps around the motor, neither of which are particularly tight. I don't remember my previous car having these.

Anyone else noticed these, wondering what they are for.

Leaving them as I found them of course.

Picture attached.

Hi Rob,

No there's no rust, not sure which bit you are referring to.

All the wheels and plastic bits are taken off, cleaned up etc. It's only a few months old, getting it protected now before anything has chance to take hold.

Maybe you are referring to the drive shafts as they come out, there's a bit of surface rust. They are using bilt hamber which is slightly brown.

I have not got my ZS EV anymore so can not check, but that absolutely looks to be some straps that needs to be removed together with whatever it retains.

My guess would be that these straps should have been removed as part of the pre-delivery check.

Someone that has an Actual Gen.2 will probably be able to pop out and have a look underneath the car to see if these straps are there.

Hi Auss, That's OK, was a bit worried as you know we don't have the best of weather here in the NW of England and I thought if that's rust on a nearly new car in Australia what chance do we have.
That said by the time my car arrives global warming may have sorted that problem out.
Cheers Rob

You will always find a bit of surface rust under the engine in any car. I would say it would take no longer than a few months for it to appear.

Don't recall ever seeing these straps before. They certainly aren't designed to carry any significant weight.

Is there anything that looks like it's strapped down on top of the gubbins under the bonnet, a frunk maybe ?

It looks like they're holding down a foam cover above it, would this normally be removed at PDI?
Also there appears to be velcro straps hanging down on the left and the right of the transmission
