MG4 Software Update Thread

I'm saying that the R33 on MG4 SR is the same as R46 on the Trophy, maybe even better. The Xpower was probably made long after R46 was released for the trophy, so it doesn't make sense that R40 is worse. I'm saying that different MG4's have different software builts. But that doesn't mean that your software is older than R46 on the Trophy.
Just to add my two cents: My MG4 Luxury, manufactured in March of 2023 and sold in Luxembourg, has R40 listed and has remarkably few issues. I've just been assuming that the R40 build plus whatever calibration they do is working fine for me.

USB player works perfectly on my SE SR R19, I use it all the time. I have a USB type A stick attached to USB type C port with an adapter.

Define "perfectly". On R13 there is no support for folders, so unless you get on your computer and rename every track in your entire library to a system that will work for you, you get every track on the stick in alphabetical order of track name.

Try that sort of "perfectly" when your library is mostly opera.

I never heard this had been fixed, until now @MG4 Standard said that folders are supported in R33.

Hello,

I can Proof that R33 is available for SE SR MY 2022.

  • Outside Temperatur ist Back
  • File structure (USB Stick) MP3s and Covers are now shown correcly
  • AC Menue has changed
  • parkdistance with additional range in "cm" (German car;-)

Hi. Would you care to look on your car and see if it's now possible to disable that infernal auto-locking? The Trophy models can do it, so it surely is not beyond the wit of even MG to make the SE do the same.

Addendum:
The star buttons (steeringwheel) with STANDARD/R33 can now be assigned recuperation, driving mode and climate...

Why not wait for another year when they change the auto-locking to an on-off feature that resets every time for NCAP points :D

Jokes aside now I'm trying to book my first ever dealer visit for the R33 update reading here that ext. temp is back on, so the reign of R13 is coming to an end

My biggest wish was OPD as I got used to it on my Tesla, this feature is perhaps useless for many but during rush hour traffic in Istanbul where its hours of slow & unsteady creeping and stopping it feels inconvenient to tap the brakes 100 times. Also I think OPD is perhaps tad bit more efficient since regen works untill full stop instead of applying 10% power while brakes are applied coming to a stop, correct me if Im mistaken

I would have thought that TJA or even just ACC was your answer for slow rush-hour traffic. The car behaves as if it has OPD in that situation.
Unless I'm following a semi which is very slow and easy on the pedals, the TJA is a hassle as 1st it won't stop for cars that are half merged in my lane and 2nd it behaves too aggresively as it constantly tries to keep the distance to the car in front while being uneasy on the throttle and even more so on the brakes. I have experimented with the efficiency of the TJA and I'm better off without it, losing around 5% extra SOC when TJA is in control over an hour of traffic (~30km distance) as opposed to me driving and I shift into neutral for coasting quite frequently.

I wish there was an adaptive distance setting for the ultimate economy and comfort like how there are 3 set distance settings, albeit all of this perhaps would be fixed if I've ever been to the dealer for the updates of said modules. I just didnt want to lose the temp reading.

I haven't used it very much but when I did I found it quite good. That was mainly in motorway traffic jams, so different conditions I suppose. I take your point about the economy - I feel that I get better economy when I'm driving myself.

The latest update - R33 - doesn't lose the temperature reading. I'm not sure how much of this is controlled via the infotainment software anyway.

Might be worth someone posting all of the settings screens from 1100R33 if that’s possible? Seems there are a lot more improvements than first thought!

A bit of a generic post here, but it is related to software and updating in a way. So, getting into the car today as usual, I pressed the arrow button on the touchscreen to get onto the navigation app and a window popped up saying 'downloading new traffic data' (or something like that) with a thin blue progress bar. This is the first time I've ever seen this in 5 months of owning the car. There's never been any other sign to suggest the car was connecting to the internet to update any aspect of its software; the UI and functionality always seems the same.

Not sure if that's useful/exciting to know! But there you go!

So new gps data?

If your really want pictures of my GERMAN version I would try....
That would be excellent. Don’t think the fact it’s German should make that much difference. Google translate should be able to resolve any translation issues! Thank you for the very kind offer (y)

I had my first year service today and thankfully they didn't update the software so I'm still on the original Nov 22 version that works perfectly and where the LKA stays off.

They did say that they would call to arrange that I bring it in for "software recalls". If I "miss" the calls and don't take it in do you think it could affect the warranty?

Here ya go....screens from version R33 on a SE LR
