Project OBD2 - Mobile App v1.2.1 and later

So are we're saying that the usable battery is now 93% of the original 44.5kwh pack giving a 41.385kwh usable capacity?

If so, is the app likely to be updated to revise the % to 100% for this usable capacity when fully charged instead of 93%?

Great work btw.

Almost, the upper is around 93% and the lower was 0.5%, therefore we have 92.5% of the potential full battery capacity - which if that is the 44.5kWh, then we have 41.16kWh available to use.
Previously is was 97% upper and 5% lower, giving 92% usable capacity.

This lower figure is based on a test performed on 2 cars, each with different voltage BMS versions. It's not a particularly easy test to do lots of times to get more data results from.
The upper figure, everyone can easily test regularly.

Bear in mind, the upper figure is not always the same every time you charge, how unbalanced the cells are following the charge process definitely affects this.

The app is reporting the data the car is giving it, which is the percentage shown, so it won't be changed. It maybe possible to get the 0-100% figure the dashboard shows from the car, but the app would need changing.

no the app wont be updated to give correct SoC as the % output of your car shown on the app is dependant on the BMS version you have so impossible to correct for everyone and of course the app is reading your Battery Management System. I'm like you at 100% on car the android app shows 93.4%.

I'm afraid all this sort stuff passes right over my head....good luck with it anyway....o_O.
The app is not necessary...can operate your car without it....but...

It can be useful if you want to know the battery degradation (SoH)...
... or if your charge is low what percentage you have left (will need to deduct the bottom buffer from it).
...or what BMS version you have so not worry that your range might start to drop once lockdown opens up and you start doing more miles.
...or if your car is still taking the charge while you are sat inside the house.
... etc

It might look complicated with lots of screens of data but it's very simple really, if you know how to operate an android smart phone or tablet.
And it's cheap too comparing to alternatives.

my dongle drops out every 10 secs or so, it's a right pain trying to get data, so I definitely won't be using it for anything bar the re-balancing info (max and min cell values) until it's back to full strength.

Zip up.

Your dongle is probably the issue get the right chipset as per opening post

Edit
PIC18F25K80 chipset

I have 2 dongles which I've used for my previous cars. 1 doesn't seem to want to connect but the other connects and maintains the connection okay so not all dongles are created equally! 😉

Agree with others - there's some fantastic work going on here and I'll be using it to keep an eye on my cell imbalances and battery volts.

Thanks for this.

Cheers

Have been using a konnwei dongle bit hit and miss but did work , now got the one from AliExpress but can't connect what is the correct procedure do I need to turn Bluetooth off on car?.

Using same dongle as others bought, probably my phone.

I'm sure when I bought this it mentioned the chipset, but cannot see it in the description now.

Amazon product ASIN B00OXXZVTA
Many others do not not have the same problem as yours....like those who bought the same device as mine.

I think two others are using the same device as yours, let them confirm how good or crap it is? Yes could be phone too, as one user confirmed.

The problem is users recommend device works, even if it works poorly.

Procedure is in opening post... As is troubleshooting.

Simple question but is anyone leaving the BT dongle plugged into the OBD socket and if so are you seeing no adverse effects? Reason for asking is I know with OVMS there were a few reporting issues by doing this.

I leave mine plugged in constantly, not seen any problems. The current it draws is minimal. It won't trigger the alarm normally, ( only if switch off DRLs with Thai app and then lock with remote).

Only took it out when gave my car to the dealers.

Added @Septian car data.
Yours has a new version change not seen before - for TC.
Assuming that's Traction Control.
Any idea what you could have on your car that's different?

@Kithmo could you share your version data?

@AbuG / @shikoku14 / @Septian
Can you answer the following about your cars, to try to figure out the differences (SCU/TC/BMS/EVCC/EPS):
When were your cars registered?
Have you got Comfort 2 (already on the car or you got it updated)?
What BMS do you think you have (when did it last have a BMS update)?
Can you charge AC unlocked?
Do you think you have the updates to allow timed/smart chargers?

Thoughts:
If EPS is Electronic Power Steering, then I wonder if this could somehow be tied to the MODE button, as the steering changes dependant on the mode?
I wonder if TC is Traction Control, then if it could also somehow be tied to the MODE button??

I presume the versions of the ECUs shown don't change dependant on the mode the car is it? I can't see how this could be the case, but just in case can you try it?

cheers
Jody
Hi,
I have the latest BMS and as of last Thursday, all of the other ECU's were updated to the latest versions too (supposedly). Firmware data from the Thais app appended below. Hope it helps!

I had my BMS update in January and today got the AliExpress dongle which gave me the following Firmware info which differs from yours in a few places. Is there a definitive list of the latest firmware?

I don't think your dongle connected properly, some of the data doesn't look right, like EPS & VCU.
Which dongle are you using?
