I always find it interesting watching the various car reviews, saying the Xpower isn't really a hot hatch etc due to its handling. This is a hot lap at the Nurburgring, on an open circuit time was 7:50

Lap records below were on a closed circuit for the bench mark hothatches. I wonder how close the Xpower would get on a closed circuit.

Renault Megane RS Trophy R: 7:40,10
Honda Civic Type R FL5: 7:44.88
Golf 8 R 20th anniversary: 7:47.31
Golf GTI Clubsport S: 7:49.21
Golf 8 R: 7:51.00
Renault Megane R.S 275 trophy R: 7:54.36
Seat León Cupra 280 MKIII: 7:58.40
VW Golf GTI Clubsport: 8:03.00

That's impressive on an open circuit, like you say on a closed circuit it would be very interesting. Shut all these "it's not a hot hatch" idiots up. 🙂👍

I enjoyed that.
I wonder if that's OEM rubber causing the lack of high speed grip?

I was having a chat with @Doug C the other day saying the X Power couldn't complete a lap of the Nurburgring without overheating and limiting power.

It turns out I was wrong.

It's 2. 🤣

Yes, Ive seen that before on here I think. It would be interesting to know if they were the stock Bridgestone Turanza tyres or something more sticky and track focused. Where does it show the lap time btw ?

I wonder if it was really slowing down due to overheating or if SOC was a factor as well, someone compiled a list of 0-60 times for launching at different SOC and it did increase quite a bit as the SOC dropped, so perhaps its the same for the top speed, I would hope no one would notice when its difficult to get above 90mph

I don't think it is one lap that's being shown. At 4.33 it shows 54% battery, then there's a 'fast forward' bit after which it has 80% charge remaining. That's some regen there!! 🤣

Correct - caption on the top of the screen at that point states they have gone back to the previous lap where stability control was disconnected - would LOVE the regen to be that good though!!!

Some nice driving there, there's no doubt the X-Power deserves the Hot Hatch badge, it really is amazing in it's performance, then when you look at the price, wow.

Thanks for sharing.

I have visited the Ring a few times and this driver appears to be forcing the car at times and fighting opposite lock…

Not the steadiest of laps to get the best out of the XPower…
