MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Im glad 4 you i ordered a trophy connect in november and have just been told end of june as a result i have cancelled since there is no visabilty of it being built.
I’m same as you, except I not cancelling my order, I will wait, and hope I get it earlier than June. MGs loss, when people cancel orders.

I think people want to believe it's MG's loss to make themselves feel better, but the reality is that demand outstrips supply. Someone else will take up a vehicle even if it's not their first colour choice.

This is good news!!

I think I've got a cat in hells chance of my car turning up early, but all the same it's really encouraging to read that people are finally getting calls about deliveries... I hope it at least means MG have got things moving in the right direction.

I bet you can't wait for Friday 😄
I am surprised it arrived so quick. I only ordered it a few weeks ago. My dealership told me that they were getting some in. They had only just found out when I went in to see them. They told me 4/6 months on the phone. I was given a choice of several colours too.

Just had a call from my dealer, my Red 5 LR has now landed on terra firma and will be delivered to me in 10/14 days !
Ordered in mid Nov 2021 - I hope his info is good as there are some horror stories out there :-(
Im glad your getting your car soon. The dealers are realy having a good laugh at our expense. I ordered a red 5LR on the 5th Nov and last week my dealer called to inform me i couln't get red until Aug and offered another colour for 21st March. This must be the biggest load of modern fiction since Harry Potter.

Why not just ring around and see if any other dealers will have your colour sooner? Are you bound by a deal?

I don’t think it’s the dealers fault , they are probably just as frustrated albeit in different ways.

I have just finished watching the Monday night pod cast and Miles has stated that Chorley have about 20 MG5's SPARE for the month of March.
Give them a call, be quick though !.

I have wanted to go ev for a while, I currently drive a Kia Optima sw diesel, currently getting 39 mpg (quoted mpg was 64 mpg!!) Bought it just over 2.5 years ago at 2 year old for £12500, added 31000 miles to the clock in that time and in these crazy times, it is worth the same almost that I paid for it! Saturday when I was going to go to order the mg zs I had 10 miles of diesel left to do a 28 mile journey and most of the garages near me had no fuel.. talk about range anxiety 😄 managed to get some diesel at the princely sum of £1.53 p/l, with the aim of ordering a trophy connect in blue. When I was told 6 months for a connect in blue or a trophy in red or silver in less than 3 weeks, the colour didn’t matter, the spec didn’t really matter. I think it’s a great car whatever the colour or spec and just looking forward to being more eco friendly and enjoying what is a great car to drive. But also understand when you have your heart set on something it can be frustrating

When did you order your car?
I ordered mine Saturday just gone, Nathaniel in Bridgend if you ordered last November and worried about losing the grant of £2500.... 0% on a pcp deal more or less equates to £2500 saving depending on the term based on standard 4.9%... it’s all in the maths 😜

An early order is no guarantee that you will get your car more quickly than somebody who ordered after you.
More will depend on what model etc you ordered.
MG build cars in batches, so due to the semi conductor shortage issues, they are struggling to ship certain models.
Right now, the Trophy i-Connect LR is the model they are really struggling with in respect of this issue.
Trophy and SE models, a little less so.
Cars that where expected to hit dealers in time for March have now slipped back to June / July.
If you where lucky enough to get your order in before the reduction in the PICG then that order is locked to that model spec car you ordered.
The dealer could offer you a different colour, but not move the spec.
This would result in you losing the saving you made on the grant if you switched from a Trophy LR I-Connect over to a Trophy.
In affect you are cancelling the original order with them and an increase of £2,500 due to the grant on the new order.

When did you order your car?
Initially ordered a white ZS LR Trophy end of November. This wasn't expected to be delivered before July. I changed.my order to MG5 LR last week as it was due in March but canceled this and changed back as a LR ZS in Silver became available in March today.

Lost the grant but got the 0% pcp so cost pretty much the same.

I ordered ours in November LR Trophy in blue it keeps slipping back but now late April but no definitive update in reality. So I've just said if it arrives early bonus but if doesn't then it's still 5 months which is less than most other. VW id3 was 12 months a Rav 4 Pih was 18!! So it's just a waiting game at present with all manufacturers

now due to all the hold up i'll have to Mot and Insure my own car next week thats meant to be getting traded in for brand new mg as they said car should have arrived before my cars mot was due .
I have also had my delivery date extended several times and am taking my ICE ZS into the dealer for its MoT this Friday. I have asked to meet someone to see if we can agree some way in which I continue with my purchase of the EV, which I anticipate will be some money off - a set of mats is not going to cut it. Yes, we have had a pandemic, yes we have a well recognised chip shortage, but we all know that, so a bit of basic honesty wouldn't go amiss, even if it is to admit that they don't have a clue. Add into the mix the basic dishonesty and lack of customer service of the first dealer I approached to buy my existing car (the one co-located with Longbridge and which I believe is no longer there) then I think my brief flirtation with the reincarnation of MG may be at an end. Others have posted here that MG and the dealers don't care and somebody will buy the car that I have ordered. I don't doubt that is true, but this dealership - which does have other brands - will not see me again, and the same argument could be used by me - I don't care because if there is one thing we aren't short of in this country it is car dealers - even if many of them don't seem to have any cars to deal in. I expect some will say I am cutting my nose off to spite my face, but the bottom line is that they approached me and I allowed them to sell me a car I can do without.

They've moved to their new location in Redditch. I've order mine from their other branch in Birmingham and so far not even one email about the delay. Not that I was expecting one because I knew things would take time but if I don't chase them to at least come up with the same push-back-date excuse I wouldn't even get it.

I will have a word with my dealer and see if they have a better idea of what is going on.

I think all buyers of EVs are “in the same boat” and facing extended delivery times.

For me the issue of dealer customer service is separate to a degree. There are those that have really failed miserably in terms of communication and keeping customers updated as to what they know, no matter how little. It won't get the car here any quicker, but the more they share, good or bad, people at least know what's what..the silent treatment only increases annoyance.

Unfortunately I think for a few, the customer is barely a thought once the deposit is paid. Poor service would prompt me to go elsewhere, not the predictable wait. Given the state of car manufacturing, I've budgeted to run my current vehicle for at least the rest of the year no matter what delivery date I've been given.

As I said before, I also think MG could do better - from what I could see their system is abysmal when it comes to keeping dealers updated. The positive is that we can vote with our coin and go with another manufacturer, or those that can do without will keep more cash in pocket whilst maybe bumping someone else up the waiting list. Still wins even in these circumstances.
