I was looking at some of the cheaper wireless adapters on Amazon and reading the reviews. A lot of them were returned for a refund for various reasons. I'll be interested to see how you get on with it.

I have fitted an Android unit to my ZS EV to give Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto.

It is a very small module that simply plugs into the USB port where you would normally connect your phone for CarPlay.



It actually runs Android 9 and with a SIM Card removes the need for a phone completely.

As long as the car has wired CarPlay, this device will work. It piggybacks onto the CarPlay API. The device runs a version of Android, so can run without having to use CarPlay or Android Auto.

That's an exceptionally cool box indeed, but gosh it's expensive!

I did see it for £159 on Ebay UK from China.

I found an App called AAAD (Android Auto App Downloader) and I installed it on my mobile and it has allowed me to watch YouTube on my current car using the AAWirelss dongle. I believe you can do more with it too, it's shown on here

It is a 4G Android box which gives me various options:
1. Can insert a 4G sim for internet.
2. Since its an android box with Playstore, it allows us to install any apps like Netflix, YouTube etc. Very useful when waiting at chargepoint or when you are stationary waiting and doing nothing. This is proving to be very useful when my son is in a swimming lesson etc and I have to wait in the car and do nothing but just be fiddling with the phone)
3. Allows split screen where half the screen can one app and other half be another app(Youtube-Navigation as example. Surely not recommending this when driving!).
4. Wireless Android Auto works perfectly fine with an inbuilt app called Zlink5.
5. Can use mobile internet via tethering if a 4G sim is not inserted.
6. Can easily return to the car infotainment screen with one click.

Also just to add, since its a 4G Android box as long as its connected to the internet, we would not even need CarPlay or Android Auto or even a phone(if there is a 4G sim inserted with mobile data). It can independently run Google Maps. With a phone just tethering mobile data to connect to the box will also work.

To be fair, you would not want this car, the steering wheel is in the wrong side for where you are probably going to drive it
