MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Do you mind me asking what colour it was?
No - Not at all Chris !.
My profile picture gives the game away a little though !.
It's a standard Trophy ( not connect ) LR model finished in Battersea Blue.
Our first ZS EV ( Gen1 ) Exclusive we had, was in Dynamic red.

Yes I have a 6.4kw system and 13kwh battery backup. I just had the new wifi Zappi installed, it’s good knowing I am driving on sunshine lol

I have had a ZS EV Trophy Connect LR in Battersea Blue on order since the beginning of November last year.
My dealership, Richmond Motors in Portsmouth have kept me up to date regarding delivery date, as far as they could!
Due initially March/April with that slipping to May - July and then onwards to August and now possibly later! Their on line order form now says December!
I have had 'chats' with both the sales manager and dealer principle, all cordial and I can sense their frustration!
I asked them for the MG order number so I could find out anything more direct from the horse's mouth.

I sent an email and got the standard reply:
---------
Thank you for the details and your patience!

We understand your frustration and we would like to let you know that there has been a high demand on the model and the delivery lead time set initially for all vehicle orders was around 4-6 months, however, this would be subject to change, due to a number of factors considered, ie. logistic challenge, global chip issue, current order queue, etc.

Upon checking with the relevant team, we can see this order is currently on shortage awaiting factory build, until production has been confirmed we cannot confirm an exact arrival date. Also, on the ordering system it shows the order date is 02/02/2022 for your vehicle, please contact your purchasing dealer to discuss this.

The production challenges have also been compounded by the huge increase in interest for the Brand and therefore created an even larger amount of customer orders. Rest assured that we are doing everything we can in the UK as a Brand to fulfil all our customer orders at the earliest possible opportunity.

For your information, MG fulfils the customer order according to the order date. We would advise you to continue to liaise with your purchasing dealer for any upcoming delivery updates, in the meantime, we continue to liaise closely with the teams in China on our orders and are transparent with the network on the information we receive.

Thanks again for taking your time contacting MG Motor, we hope the above information helps.

Kind regards,

Jessica

The standard of English used is lamentable! How a major(?) motor manufacturer can send out a stock rely that is that bad, 'Brand' shouldn't be capitalised unless MG have registered it as a name, which as far as I can find out they haven't, also the use of 'amount' in amount of customers' is an appalling use of English when the correct word is 'number'!

There is now a discussion going on between Richmond Motors and MG regarding the order date, I am inclined to believe Richmond Motors as the government grant was decreased when MG says the car was ordered and my invoice shows the original grant.
We will see what happens now!
Given that 4 -6 months is the original order to delivery time, April should have been the latest delivery date, but given the world's problems that was always likely to slip a bit.

What is extremely galling is hearing of others taking delivery of their cars from other dealers!
I would ask if those lucky folk could put the 'exact' specification of their successful purchase, so that we can see what model was delivered. SE; Trophy; Trophy Connect and what is most important, whether it is a SR or LR model.

My son believes that the abundance of SR models available in dealers is purely a profit thing with MG as Long Range cars cost more to manufacture and don't give the same profit margin compared to Standard Range! He could be correct, who knows!

Also, on the ordering system it shows the order date is 02/02/2022 for your vehicle, please contact your purchasing dealer to discuss this.
A very informative post, thank you.
When I reached the section with the above quote, I have to be totally honest and say that this sent a cold shiver down my spine !.
There is something clearly not right here @IanMG .
It sounds very fishy to me I have to say.
You are in the belief that your order what placed early November 21 and yet, MG themselves have your order date as early December ???.
Somebody is not telling the truth here.
Either way, that does not help you at all.
It is only my opinion here, please don’t judge, but I would strongly suggest that the dealer involved here sat on your order, for reasons only known best to themselves.
This month delay has not helped at all.
A number of dealers almost or DID get caught out, when not applying for the government grant before the sudden reduction after the budget.
Order forms completed, but no grant application submitted at the same time.
Dealers then expecting the customer to pick up the tab !.
A feel a very serious and urgent conversation taking place between yourself and the offending dealer.
Somebody has been negligent here I can not help but feel.
Good luck getting to the bottom of this situation.
A book down the back of the trousers is the order of the day here for somebody.

I had the same discrepancy between my order date with the dealer and MG's order date. I ordered a LR on 5th November (Chorley) and during exchanges with MG direct they told me the order was placed with them in December. So, as others, I apparently lost a month before any other factors kicked in. I made a fuss, MG said it was Dec and maybe the dealer put in a block orders at the end of the month after internal admin and the dealer swore blind it was ordered in early November, maybe MG put in block orders to China once each month. I was losing patience by then anyway, 6 months after ordering the car was not built, so me eagerly looking at this shipping thread was a waste of time. I abandoned ship (a pun :)) and went elsewhere, pity as my old MG was a great car and would have happily had another-multiple shenanigans and abysmal communications by MG forced me away.

After ringing around a few dealers this week in relation to long range stock I have been told the following. Some long range stock has arrived out of the blue but this has not been offered to customers waiting since November due to the price discrepancy. You could potentially buy one now at the going rate.

I am not sure what this means delivery date wise for customers who have been waiting since November?

There are just no words. I fully understand the business rationale in some respects that due to a shortage of parts they want to get the most profit per car. However, that’s seems completely unjustified when there are people without a car and/or paying for fuel whilst they wait for a car ordered over 6 months ago with a delayed delivery of a few months. Some will have paid the additional cost of the car today in expenses on their current vehicle. I only ordered at the beginning of April and I already resent paying 1.80 odd a litre and I paid the same book price it is today.

There really shouldn’t be any stock vehicles until all existing orders are fulfilled or there isn’t any point ordering in advance.

I can’t believe some of you, get emails from your dealerships, I have never ever, ever had anything from my dealership, I have to go to them…it’s like they don’t bloody care (which they probably don’t) I did wonder is it because they now only have one salesman and a manager, but I still think it’s a case of they don’t give a f…, don’t know if it’s worth trying to get the 10 digit number and emailing MG head office, guess I’d only get the standard email back from them, which is a bit of a waste of time (I could just read the other ones on here🤣) am going to Curry’s to buy a coffee machine and the dealership is just up the road from them, I don’t know if it’s worth popping in, just for the manager to tell me, “you’ll be the first to know” well it’s been six months (ordered 17/12) and you’ve never even bothered emailing me, even if it’s just to say, you have no news…I feel like cancelling the bloody thing, but what could I get that as good, price wise and spec? And quicker than Im waiting now?…last time I was in there, I was told, I won’t see it before August, I tell you he must have eyes up his arse, as he was walking across the showroom 😂..when he pulled that out of the air…I guess I’m on a bit of a downer today and hopefully, I’ll be back to the push it to the back of your mind and forget about it..it’ll turn up when it does…

No Lovemyev MG says my order went in on 2nd FEBRUARY!!!
That is a THREE month delay!!

You will love it. Except for the stereo, it’s sooooooooooooo bad lol
It's not great...just adequate. I was debating whether or not to do anything about it, but not sure it's worth it. I'll likely wait to see if the next facelift improves it.

Interesting... I wonder if it's due to how MG are doing things in the background, because it's not the first time a discrepancy with dealer date vs MG has come up.

I wish I could say I was shocked, but there are people waiting since November whilst others are driving away fairly quickly. I'd like to be wrong, but it does give the impression that some dealers are taking advantage.

That email is from MG's call centre I think... It's where I sent my info request to as my dealer is persona non grata when it comes to updates.

I have had a ZS EV Trophy Connect LR in Battersea Blue on order since the beginning of November last year.
I am sorry if I have the grasp the wrong end of the stick, when writing my reply, but your original post ( see above ) states your order was submitted on the beginning of November 2021 ?????.
Or so your thought.
Just to clarify, we are talking about YOUR order here only.
Okay ! - So MG Customer Services UK are directly stating that your order was NOT submitted until the 2nd February 2022 .
So, clearly there is a three month (ish) time differential, to what you where lead to believe by the dealer.
Question :- I am assuming then ( which is always dangerous ) that the dealer was extremely late submitting your order ?.
WHY has to be the $99 dollar question here I guess ???.
Sorry I have to say this, but I will extremely surprised if the dealer will be able to honour that order at the price that was offered way back in Nov 2021.
If they do, I have to say it is likely to be at a very large cost to themselves.
I do hope you have a copy of the order form, dated early November 2021 and also a receipt of payment for the deposit paid on or close to that date ?.
If the dealer has messed up, they will be hoping that you just get feed up of waiting and cancel the order.
Then they are off the hook 🥵.
A similar situation happened a few weeks ago, when a forum members order never ever got placed at the dealership.
The member did not have any proof of the order BUT he had paid the deposit.
Order was never placed due to a misunderstanding between customer and the dealer.
Needless to say, the member never received his car, just his deposit refunded.
Hopefully the dealer and MG UK can come to a satisfactory conclusion.

You will love it. Except for the stereo, it’s sooooooooooooo bad lol

Agree the audio is not the best out there. But you can adjust the EQ and enable other audio settings (virtual subwoofer etc) to make it sound decent. With the default settings (EQ flat and other audio settings turned off), it sounds very bad indeed.

PS: I haven't got the car yet (hopefully coming next week!) but few months ago I specifically went for another test drive to test the audio system and played with all the settings until I was satisfied I can somehow get half decent sound out of it :)

Ordered SE LR in Battersea blue on 25th March this year, picking up next week.
I think because they are a new franchise for MG it was already en route for stock….(ONLY MY OPINION)
Have since cancelled with Chorley Group, so somebody will move up the list with them
