Agree with all that.
China creates industrial targets and uses subsidies to achieve their economic aims (like opening new coal plants, making NEVs, building apartments etc.).
These tools are in some ways overly effective and then there is a glut and then they need to deal with oversupply...
It's all gone a bit 'prepper' hasn't it?
I think there is a strange overlap between solar panel and battery owners and preppers.
Must admit I had the backup off-grid system added to our solar and battery "just in case" though I think that if the electricity goes off in a town with a massive...
EVs are already significantly cheaper than petrol cars (for those with driveways) when you take the cost of fuel/charge into account.
There is a huge amount of FUD and lies about batteries and so on but people doing leases won't care even if they believe that stuff because it is someone else's...
Yeah I used to think that just setting a low-ish cruising speed would be the best for efficiency but speaking to a few of the speakers at the everything electric event set me straight on that one.
The rule is you want to keep the power as close to zero as possible while generally working...
Not sure, but I saw that Bjorn Nyland thinks the Leapmotor B10 is a contender against the MGS5 and other Chinese contenders after taking a long drive in it.
As for the initial question, yes I think we are seeing the gradual loss of US hegemony because China and Asia generally are rapidly catching up with the West and have much bigger populations so will end up more powerful.
The West could stay ahead by 1. increasing immigration and 2. investing...
The density might make it harder to extract, but it is the kind that the Americans want.
Especially because the US aren't going to do anything to improve the situation in Venezuela.
They are hoping that if they take out the leader and make some threats then the country will work out well...
Yes it would be absolutely great if it is true.
The more battery options the better, particularly if they are much better for the same cost as this one is claimed to be.
Plus if it uses different materials to the other types of battery then it is good environmentally and geopolitically as well.
I don't know, if people like that kind of info that is fine.
But for 'normies' (a bit more like me - I'm probably in the middle of the two categories) who just drive the thing you don't want to give them something to worry about all the time.
For those following this story and initial reactions to it...
Another You Tuber (who is pretty knowledgeable) has produced a video after interviewing the company at the CES where they made the announcement.
Loads of people are now making videos about this and I haven't seen any of the others.
When losing individual tyres to nails I went for the Conti Contact 7 on the basis that it would be similar to originals and seemed to have good ratings.
If replacing two at a time I might have looked more at other brands but the nail incidents were a few months apart.

I would be very surprised if it doesn't. The ID3 does.
If anything they would remove some of their own software since people are more likely to use the apple/google. Kia seem to be planning that with the EV2 (not provide navigation since everyone uses their phone).

Have had the service done at an MG dealership, to get the warranty upheld and breakdown cover as you say.
When I checked the plan was cheaper but I didn't go ahead, yet.
Some people have plans with dealerships that lost the MG franchise and that caused all kinds of trouble.
Having a service...
As I'm sure you will guess by my ability to reply I decanted it into a suitable (pyrex) container before microwaving.
Just wanted to share the tip that it saves a lot of money and non-recyclable plastic to do your own mushy peas. We don't have our own deep fat fryer for the fish and chips...

Plug in hybrid (range extender?)
The only possibility there would be to add an engine to charge the battery which is built into the car.
But it wouldn't be set up to do this. If you bought a generator and plug a cable into the charging...
I don't think so. I've only experienced it once but it brought the car to a complete stop with extreme prejudice!
Think I had to switch the car off and on again to proceed but it was a while ago. Certainly seemed like ages before I could continue, but maybe that was because of the shock.
That is Sindlesham Mill, I have some relatives who live very near.
Reading is very well served for Tesla Chargers (with several of the sites open to non-Tesla).
We've just had our energy bill.
For December 2026 we used 200kWh more electricity than December 2025. Average cost of 10p because our home battery couldn't cover every day so we used some expensive electricity as well.
However, we used 700kWh of gas in 2025 and NONE in 2026.
So our energy...
Combi boilers really took us in the wrong direction unfortunately.
People are putting hot water cylinders in garages these days since cars rarely live in there any more. Perhaps in lofts as well but then they are large and heavy to get up there.

A battery expert You Tuber Ziroth has investigated this new product.
He wonders if it is a capacitor, but it would be a huge leap for a capacitor as well as a battery.
Indeed.
I mentioned it as being a surprise because I couldn't see why this would apply to a car whose maximum is well below the halved amount.
The amps were seemingly still available, unless they weren't for some other reason (the maximum site capacity as mentioned).
On reflection the...
I can understand why someone would want to convince themselves that it was 'the car' and not them. That is an understandable reaction to avoid guilt.
Journalists should know better than to draw on a contested (and very unlikely) claim like this.
Errors can happen. My Uncle crashed into...
My guess would be that if it is -5 degrees you would have very low humidity so it would take a long time for the tubes to get frozen.
Particularly because the heat pump would also probably be scavenging small amounts of heat from other sources too.
Actually MG are still claiming this in the latest brochure, not just the original one.
Pretty poor from MG I think to advertise a figure that is so wrong.
That is what MG claimed in the original brochure but it doesn't seem to be what anyone gets in practice.
EV database has it as 87kW

Good troubleshooting!
It is like computers! No idea what the cause of the issue was or fixed it, but tried a load of things and somehow one of them worked.
Could be useful for others.
Curious to know if a granny charge would have also had a positive result.
I hope this is true, it would be a big development.

Have you got the SR SE?
We do and the official maximum is about 88kW. However, we've only had about 70kW on our few DC charging stops, with the speed dropping off from there as it filled up.
I wonder if it is something to do with the fact that the charger is 800V and the car is 400V meaning...
Yes, that is why it is particularly surprising.
They are an electric motor company, not a battery company, though I think I read they had close relationships with a battery company.
Yes quite a shock this one, since this is a very small company and it has come out of nowhere. Though perhaps it was really developed with/by a partner.
Massive companies have spent billions trying to develop this technology like QuantumScape.
We will have to see if others can verify the claims.
The way I see it is that the 7kW charger provides a lot of convenience and adds to the value of the house anyway if you sold up.
All houses with driveways are going to need one.
The cabling to ours (Givenergy) was also fed through a hole in the wall into the back of the unit. However, that...
You'd want a ready supply of clean water and a huge surplus of renewable energy.
New York or London probably not the best place for it! Unless perhaps they is being impacted by flooding and this is a way to use up the water.

We are all learning Rolfe-law
Wait are we witnessing a call for an anarcho-syndicalist revolution?
We are the proletariat toiling away with our hilarious and informative postings and all in exchange for a meagre haul trophy points!
To be fair a lot of companies create 3.6kw inverters for this reason.
Went to check that and the second I checked (Fox) is indeed listed as 3.7kw so they obviously rounded up rather than down!
Very disappointing.
Perhaps they are taking a while to respond after Xmas holidays.
That is understandable if you need a vehicle.
Shame if you had deliberately selected this one, though. Presumably you got a good deal on it?
Pebbles has pronounced that trophy points "aren't real" and that they are all a plan to get people to waste their time on this forum.
What do we think?
Can our marriage be saved?
Sorry for making things too complicated.
There are loads of great explainers on heat pumps online.
Useful to get your head around since they are basically the only thing that makes any sense to meet our climate targets.
Heat Geeks have made lots of videos...
Loads of other You Tubers...
I've put the efficiency in terms of percentage as I thought it would be easier for people but it is commonly expressed in terms of COP (coefficient of performance) or SCOP (seasonally adjusted coefficient of performance).
Essentially heat pumps can exceed 100% efficiency because they don't...
I think when there are larger hubs there is less of a worry. If there are two connections and a queue of two cars you're in trouble, if there are 20 and a queue of 2 it isn't a problem at all.
Hi all,
I mentioned in a post that we've had a heat pump installed and I got a DM from a curious member about how it performs in cold weather.
Since I looked up the data to write them a response I thought I would share it with the group!
The Vaillant Heat Pump app provides us with data. I...
It is getting better all the time, though there are oversubscribed places as @Rolfe notes.
The number of cars on the road started to get ahead of the chargers available for a while, but that just incentivises the installation of more chargers.
There are now quite a few near the A34...

I believe the problem with aluminium is that it does not occur naturally (separately from other elements) so it has to be extracted from rocks (I mentioned Bauxite) which takes a HUGE amount of energy/electricity.
Recycling aluminium, however, uses much less energy (though...
How annoying.
You probably need to contact Sicharge, but maybe MG as well.
I expect it will become more difficult as there are more and more EV models and more and more chargers to sort out the compatibility and communication issues.
The use of standard protocols should have helped with...

This is a bit like a thread on 'historic injustice' on one of my online courses!

I've been hit by this.
I set up a charge limit to make sure I didn't charge during the evening peak (4pm - 7pm, expensive on my old tariff).
Plugged the car in for some free charging in Town last night and got back to find the car had taken none. Assumed it was a charger failure but later...
I've been very impressed with our Heat Pump in the first month and a half.
In November we got ~500% efficiency. It doesn't take more than about 1200w at a time, despite having a 5kw output.
The efficiency seems to drop when the weather is cold, but still around 360% efficiency.
A nice service.
Thanks for all the replies
My reason for mentioning the charge speed is because this is a factor for me in thinking about getting extra batteries for the house.
We have 9.5kwh and now have a heat pump so would like more as it seems to run out in the evening when the weather is cold.
As we...
Was this because the charger was maxing out at 50kW or because the car was the limiting factor?
If the car, could it be because the battery was too cold? Or, that it was over 50% and so not giving full speed?
This is the charging curve reported in one source...
I've realised that I've been building up trophy points with all my valuable contributions to the forum here.
Very nice.

Hi EvTek23 - happy new year.
