If using a dash cam as a parking monitor you need a permanent power supply and the OBD port is a convenient source for this the USB ports are powered down when the ignition is off.

Having just installed a dash cam for parking coverage I really wish that MG had a parking mode utilising the existing cameras like Tesla, it is frustrating knowing they are there and not being able use them for this purpose.
