How long should the 12 volt, battery last ?

I would recommend a Ctek battery keeper... the .8 amp will work just fine and put it onto the battery and leave it on for as long as you can every few months. I kept a battery on an Astra going for 16 years, it had been my work car for about 10 years and done 80k miles after that it was little...

    Zs EV facelift battery balancing

Have you spotted that the battery consumption starts off high and reduces as the journey progresses. This is particularly evident in cold weather. The internal resistance of the battery at lower temperatures (below 15 degrees) has an impact. I have had both a Mk1 and Mk 2 SR and find that for...

    Considering a ZS EV

I am on my second ZS, the first was a 2019/20 car which had all the software issues which were fixed. The Pano roof is a nice touch and I was a little sad to loose it when I swapped to a new Mk2 SR car. I am disabled and the charge point became difficult. My observations are that the cars are...

Repeat fast charging in a day bad?

Interesting that I am a UK ZS owner in NZ responding to a NZ owner in NZ! The car will be just fine and depending on the charger and the state of charge the rate of charge will vary. Ideally you want to recharge when the state of charge falls to 15-20%. At that point you have the fastest rate...

    Refusing warranty work...

Sad to hear your service record issues. My ZS EV from 2020 was just part exchanged at the dealer in Southampton. They knew they had the full service record and didn't even ask for invoices etc. An annual check for potential issues is a mere £70 or so which includes the AA renewal. When the 4...

    Service on 2020 ZS EV

The best bet might be to negotiate a service package. On a new car i paid £9 a month over 3 years. The 4th year was around £120 so not expensive and yes free AA service included?

So dangerous gearbox gap in acceleration.

These power lags seem to be present in all hybrids in that the delay in going from battery to petrol assist requires the engine to start. For that reason I think all hybrids should come with a hazard warning. Frankly none of them are ideally suited to UK and quite possibly most EU roads that...

Radar damaged and repair cost astronomical- anyone got tips

No this is ridiculous, all that is needed is a bracket. I am having the same trouble!

Testing the Mg5 standard range to the limit

I view it as success when I am 3 miles from home and the GOM goes to 3 dashes! I have an early ZS, with the 42 KW battery and it is perfectly feasible to do more than 300 miles in a day. In fact with all the new charging facilities that are going in I would have no issues attempting a 450 mile...

    ACC and sensors knocked out

Is there a bump in the road? I have an issue caused by someone bashing the front of my car. The no. plate has a crease across it and it must have had a fair wallop but the brackets holding the radar gadget are now broken. The rest of the front has stood up to what must have been a fair old bash...

Rear shock spring failure LR Trophy

The roads are broken. I don’t remember so many rough roads in all my life. I travel mainly in Hants but they are beyond disgraceful. As for spares, you would think they would be shipping plenty over. With their sales figures now so high and not a massive variety of cars it ought to be easy!?

    MG Return to Longbridge?

Unfortunately they are building 200 houses on the Longbridge site, I have read.

    MG ZS EV Quality Survey

Ah that reminds me, don’t rush the start up. That is the way for things to freeze. It isn’t seriously slow but just give things time to boot up in their natural sequence. If things stop, switch off and reboot.

Very interesting reply from my MP reference Rapid Charger fund

Drive it back where? Whilst the MSA network is severely lacking, there are now plenty of chargers in the UK. I shudder to think what it was like 3 years ago but now the problem is finding them because the signage is not as bold as petrol stations.
