I have found a touchup paint pen and some rubbing compound very usefull on the white paintwork. Also fitting a bumper protector will cover a multitude of misshaps.

Having to use the brake pedal should reduce disc corrosion and brake cylinder seizing.

I have used Summit roof bars on my Excite. While a little fiddly to set up they do the job.
