    MG IM6 information & reviews

I guess I am most disappointed with is the stubborn and inconsistent operation of the door handles. Unlocking, aometimes, touching the handle pops it out immediately, other times it takes a while (a minute or so) for the handle to pop out. Locking; touching the handle rarely locks the car and...

    MG IM6 information & reviews

Hi lokych , I agree with your car review completely. There are a few problems that I hope a firmware upgrade will fix, but overall I love it. It’s a very comfortable, fast, and a pleasure to drive. At 78 years old, I don’t want another race car anyway, three was enough.

    What charging cables?

My car came with the 3kW type that plugs into a house hold socket (220v). A 20 Amp breaker is preferable. I haven’t used it yet, and according to Murphy’s Law, if I continue to carry it, I’ll never need it. 😉 The included wall supply has the supply cable already attached.

    Cables/chargers

I have never seen a retail charger without a big hefty cable. Even the free MG 7kW charger includes a fairly large cable. I am pretty impressed with the quantity and distribution of retail chargers across Thailand. One could easily tour the entire county knowing a charger is within reach.

What annoys me about the IM6

Hi Chukensky. I’m not sure what you mean by heating up. Our current night time low temps are around 22°C, and I have no idea how much, if any, heating is required by the battery. I continue to be impressed by the Pilot mode. when pilot mode is active the car icon is traveling on a blue road...

    Cables/chargers

Cables are part of the chargers. There is no need to carry a useless cable around in the frunk. The one exception I can see is the optional cable that supplies 220V AC outlets. This is really useful for powering most anything from the home while away from the grid. Perfect for the blender and...

    MGS5 charging cables

Mine Included a cable that plugs into a household socket. I believe it supplies 3kW to the car and requires a circuit with a minimum of a 15 Amp breaker, 20A would be better. I haven’t used I but it’s there in the car thereby thwarting Murphy’s Law.

    Accessory 12 Volt battery

I am having problems finding information about the 12 V battery. For instance, what type is it, lead-acid, lithium, …? How is it kept charged, and when is it charged? Is there a ‘utility’ mode that runs the displays etc from the big battery?

What annoys me about the IM6

My IM6 is about two months old now. My AC works just fine, and that’s important here in Thailand The lock/unlock process is really annoying . My charge cable releases with the NFC card touching the charger, or a car ‘lock/unlock’ cycle CarPlay works great! No lags or control delays The MG...

    Auto High Beams on IM6?

My IM6 had a ‘Pet Scene’ when it was delivered. A few weeks later, that scene disappeared. I assume an over the air update occurred and the ‘pet’ was removed for some unknown reason.

    IM6 or Model Y?

Hi Nick. I hope the insurance doesn’t end up too expensive. The rates I paid in the US were high also, especially in California. Here in Thailand, low rates are the result of low claims. Parts and especially labor are inexpensive. Do you get flowers and a bow on the hood at delivery? Enjoy...

    IM6 or Model Y?

My IM6 purchase included one year of top tier insurance, along with the lifetime (whose lifetime) warranty on the battery and electronics. Obviously that is not a ‘guarantee’ that nothing will break. They will replace the part(s), not sure about labor. For the first five years of service, the...

    Glove Box/Compartment 🚫

I feel like this small bit of information should be publicized. It was a real surprise to me when I went to put gov. docs in the glove box when I discovered there was no glove box. There seems to be ample space available, but perhaps the airbags are taking up the room. Not a big deal, but...
