    Service Reminder

My car was purchased end of April and needed servicing early November. I didn’t need the alert as I know it’s 15,000 miles, but for the unorganised people, or just the busy people of the world, it’s helpful. You get an alert from the insurance company etc.

    MG4 reliability

Your hypothesis was that SORN data has a correlation with reliability (specifically related to an MG4). I don't know what you're trying to prove, but whatever it is, the sorn data is not fit for purpose for ascertaining the correlation for an MG4. Yes, the data might show trends, but as you have...

Catch up service to validate the Warranty

Do MG state it needs to be serviced by an MG dealer to maintain warranty? I am sure this was made an unenforceable requirement for warranty work.

    MG4 reliability

You are comparing apple and pears. We have no idea why cars are sorned as the owner doesn't need to provide this information. MG's presumably have a lot of older people driving them so they could be more likely for the owners to be in long term situations where they cannot use their car and...

    MG4 reliability

SORN has nothing to do with a cars reliability. Unsuitable proxy for reliability.

Catch up service to validate the Warranty

I don't quite understand the issue. If the car was registered in Nov 24, and then serviced in Aug 25 then the first service has been done? My car was registered in April 25 and had it's first service November 25.

DC Fast Charging Not Working, Only Type 2 AC Charging

In this example it's worth the money to take them to small claims court. I would ask them for a copy of their T&C's which state what they are saying.

WHich is going to be my best buy (MG4)

Where as I am totally different opinion: 1)Rear Wiper (you never need it) Gary uses it most days in winter 2)Sat Nav (you never use it ) Gary uses it EVERY day 3)Automatic front grill open and closing ( no idea if it is of any use) - Useful to maintain fast charge rate 4)Rear passenger hand...

MOT Fail! Lower Suspension Arm Bushings

MG wouldn't be allowed to downgrade the warranty by issuing a newer warranty document. What they appear to do is just apply variations to certain parts over time. For example the latest document has a longer warranty on the charge port to 3 years (for cars registered after Jan 25). I provided...

MOT Fail! Lower Suspension Arm Bushings

I didn't use the attachment (as that document is out of date). I referred to the up-to-date warranty document on their website. https://www.mg.co.uk/sites/default/files/2025-11/MG_Online_Warranty_Statement_Nov_2025.pdf

MOT Fail! Lower Suspension Arm Bushings

I'd say what's more revealing is this quote: When I showed them the warranty they complained how much work it would take them to make the claim. This shows it's intentional on both MG's part (making it hard to perform warranty claims) but also on the dealer for trying their luck. I'd be more...

MOT Fail! Lower Suspension Arm Bushings

If the car is under 3 years old then I don't think they have a leg to stand on if they refuse. It's very clear from the document, even the "Rubber Components" say 3 years. ALL BALL JOINTS 36 months 45,000 miles ALL BUSHES 36 months 45,000 miles TRACK ROD ENDS 36 months 45,000 miles DAMPERS...

Slightly pathetic data limitation - 1GB, MG4 Trophy

iSmart still worked for me when the data ran out. What didn't work was live traffic and the weather app.

    MG4 first year service cost

There's only one dealer in each area. I think Sheffield is Eric Stead and Barnsley is Cars2Go. I'd phone up and when they say £248+ just say, no i mean the first service not the second. I had a few dealers tell me silly price until I said that seems a lot for a basic check over (as nothing is...

    Charging Flap Warranty

I notice the warranty T&C's have been modified so that it shows cars registered after 2025 have a 36 month warranty. My flap is sticky or none sticky depending on what it feels like. It'll not open, then it won't stay closed. I'd seen on here before that it only has 12 months warranty. Looking...

    MG4 first year service cost

They are having a laugh. In November when I phoned around the prices were: Area / Cost £ Barnsley = £133 Sheffield = £135 Doncaster = £145 Chesterfield = £145 Leeds = £154 Nottingham = £162 I used Chesterfield due to them having shortest wait time. Probably quoting you the 2 year service, or...

    Battery Pre-conditioning

I charged mine last week when it was 2oC and it ramped up to 138Kw within a minute of starting charging. Did you use the same charger for this test?

MG4 EV only charging at 1.5kW on a Home Charger (Hypervolt)

I just use the app to iSmart start charging if i've been inside the car to get something and it's decided then to act dumb.

Can newer models save the One Pedal Drive setting?

MG's software appears to be "Whack-a-Mole". They probably worry changing one thing breaks another.

    News from France

Plenty of "L" motorbike riders around here which must be pushing 100db, stupidly loud. Really wish police would confiscate and crush. Hearing these divs for miles isn't on.

Simple Fix for rear seat belt alerts

I think that's my point, the OP must be wanting to carry with the seats up as if not I doubt many people are managing to get more weight in than what I managed to "ram" in.

UK Owners - How many miles are you getting on a full charge?

Here what I got on mine in August last year. Trophy 64kwh. 230 miles on A1 at 60-65mph where possible (but there was an accident so quite a few miles tootling), rest of the miles around some random place near Newcastle finding a Spoons. I'll be doing same journey soon so if it stays cold I will...

    Uncomfortable front seats MG4 SE

Seats in my Trophy are spongy, certainly not hard, i'd say quite soft for a modern car. They don't seem uncomfortable to me, but as seats are a personal thing . Although if you're looking at BMW etc, then they also tend to have hard seats. Volvo S60 leather seats are my fav so far (not the...

Simple Fix for rear seat belt alerts

Am I correct to presume the issue is because you want to place objects directly on the seats rather than folding the read seat back down? The reason I ask is i brought back 200kg of bed and wardrobes from Ikea which filled the boot and back seats to the roof line and didn't get any alarms or...

    Old stock bargains

This all just sounds like you haven't tried to charge on the go very often, or are talking about years ago when charging was more hit and miss. Obviously charging an EV takes longer than an ICE car but apart from that everything you said sounds more like you lack much experience of charging...

    Old stock bargains

The car doesn't self explode when it hits 180 miles. Are these people you are talking about incapable of plugging in to a charger? My car is my main car and I'm doing 30,000 miles per year (private miles not business so cost is important), which is clearly well above average, and only have a...

    Heater Slow to Start

This is what mine does, it's a proper pain in the backside! It means I have to slowly increase the temperature as journeys go on to counter it.

HVAC under seat function not working

Have you checked if the carpet has come loose or the mats are covering the outlet? I assume you will have tried putting the vents on feet, setting to maximum power, also change to "Re-circ"/ Internal as this gives more force. Still nothing coming out? There are flaps in the system, which could...

    Corroded (rear) discs

A mechanic at Hyundai told me he recommend this. I never tried it when I had my Ioniq, but it's actually really aggressive in the MG4 and from higher speeds really does stop the car quickly. I wasn't sure if cars had brake shoes in addition to the brake discs, so always presumed the EPB would...

    Heater Slow to Start

In auto mode my car takes at least 3 minutes to blow out any air when it's cold outside. To get around this stupidity I just turn the screen blowers on clear (max) mode.

HVAC under seat function not working

My car has no vents under the driver or passenger seat.

    MG EV 4

Mine sometime work, sometimes don’t. It feels like it’s software (who’d have thought) related though as you can lock car using key fob and then it might work, possibly on one side, then nothing, then maybe other side. Seems more problematic in cooler (not frozen) weather
  37. G

UK Owners - How many miles are you getting on a full charge?

The car was never going to achieve 289 miles as it claimed unless you drove constantly at 30mph.
