It's now officially been announced that the MG5 ev has passed type approval testing for use in the UK and EU. The roof bars are rated at 35 kilos. MG will be printing out and putting printed sheet over the part in the owners manual where it states they are decorative only. Do search on YouTube...

Probably not much consolation but I've found AliExpress refund route for bad items reasonably good if long winded.

If anyone is interested I've noticed that Aliexpress the online Chinese shopping app lists quite a few bits and bobs for the MG5 (ROEWE ei5) the prices seem ok. Not sure about quality but worth a look imho.
