I carry a 12v jumper pack in case of battery failure. Today I needed it but where was it? In the boot which is virtually impossible to open if the 12v battery is dead. Take heed and keep it inside the main compartment not the boot.
May have been my post. I hit a pheasant and it twisted the radar round a bit. With a bit of brute force, I was able to get it straight and working again, how well calibrated it is I don't know. No the pheasant did not survive.
I did try disconnecting the battery before straightening it but that didn't work. Maybe disconnecting after I straightened it would have worked but I didn't think of that and I was doing the 50 mile drive anyway.
Still working OK after one week so I think it was just the angle being out that caused the problem. I think after straightening it needs to be driven for a certain time or range so it can reset itself.
I had a problem on my ZS EV after collision with a pheasant. The only damage to my car was the radar module was angled slightly to the left. After this the anti collision and cruise control were showing as unavailable with an annoying bonging noise on start up and occasionally during driving as...
When using the discharge function on my ZS EV it has to be in the run mode, engine off, I.e. press the start button twice without pressing the brake pedal. This means you cannot lock the car. If you use the Accessories mode or Off so you can lock the car, the discharge stops after a couple of...
My solar/battery system is limited to 5kW so if I want to suck up some excess solar, I use the 3 pin cable. I normally charge to 80% and to harvest the excess, I have to set the car target charge to 100% otherwise it stops at 80%. It doesn't automatically change.
At night my batteries are set to...
I have seen many 13A sockets with burned and blackened pins over the years. Often where 3 bar electric fires have been plugged in.
If you use a Granny charging cable, check the temperature of the 13A plug regularly during charging and make sure it is not hot to touch. It will get warm after a...
