    Three Months In An S5

My multi-meter is a low cost version @stevedee, but tested against my neighbours (electronics engineer's) it's pretty much spot on, at least as you infer, within the bounds of acceptability in this instance and probably + or - 0.1 volts is close when considering a couple of volts differential...

    Three Months In An S5

My S5 conundrum kinda semi solved According to a notice on the driver’s screen when turning off the power, “12v battery level is critical” as photo. To check 12v battery state of charge (SOC) in the car, touch car icon bottom on the infotainment screen and then touch STATUS, 12V BATTERY...

MG 2025: An Epic Year | MG Motor UK - video

I like MG @MG Clive they make some really nice cars, but with a "tincy wincy" amount of additional input from MG they could be GREAT cars Clive!

    Three Months In An S5

It's a mystery @Coulomb, you are absolutely correct, the normal resting voltage of a 12v lead acid battery is in the region of 12.6 volts. I wonder if anyone else has measured their 12v battery without entering the car to activate the startup procedure? In my mind it's somehow, rightly or...

    Three Months In An S5

I only get the message of low 12V battery when the car is in "ready mode" of course, but what I don't understand is with all electrics turned off, my 12V battery is reading 13.9V. I purposely left the car unlocked overnight, by switching off at the infotainment screen, I opened the drivers door...

    New EV - advice please

I'm on my 2nd EV (MGS5, MG4 previously) Using Intelligent Octopus Go, giving 6 hours (11.30pm to 5.30am) to charge the car with the excellent Ohme Home Pro 7kW EV Charger, we also run any other high usage utilities during the cheap 6 hours, like washing machine and dishwasher etc, all at cheap...

    Three Months In An S5

Exactly @emmrecs. I've noticed my S5 Custom Pilot wont save driving in Eco mode, not sure if it's standard or another anomaly, but it's not something I use regularly. Another thing, I regularly get a flash message telling me the 12V battery is low, but it's far from low, measured today @13.9V...

    Three Months In An S5

I now get a very peaceful drive in my S5, I've turned off all the annoying bings and bongs, but you'll need to turn down the volume in one of the menu's to totally stop the most annoying ones, I cant remember exactly how I turned down the sound, but it's all quite normal to drive now, so long as...

I couldn’t wait to stop driving this car

I couldn’t wait to stop driving this car

The following Tesla was definitely travelling too close, BUT in the circumstances it was a strange thing to happen and for NO apparent reason, other than the rather feeble legal type of response from Mercedes, but it seems they did subsequently test the car and found nothing apparently wrong...

I couldn’t wait to stop driving this car

Totally agree @salty, the dealers are tied to what they can do, I think they actually DO try, in my case like many others though they were not able to sort the niggles, that I imagine is in MG's court. Is it they pushed to cars out to the dealers before they were fully evaluated perhaps? A bit...

I couldn’t wait to stop driving this car

I think this is possibly an Australian review of the MG HS hybrid, but it's typical of many of MG's models, and somewhat similar to my own MGS5. https://torquecafe.com/i-couldnt-wait-to-stop-driving-this-car/ My brother has just bought the HS hybrid Couple of weeks ago here in the UK, it's...

    Three Months In An S5

One thing I would have liked is being able to see the 12v battery condition on the app, it was on my MG4, so why the furk it isn't on the S5, I've just ordered a Bluetooth battery tester, but that's no good for checking when we are on holiday and the car is at an airport car park.

    Three Months In An S5

Absolutely agree with all the annoying gremlins, big BUT though, the S5 is one of the nicest cars to drive, it's very comfortable, giving none of the aches and pains of recent other cars I've owned, like Volvo, Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Superb and Passat, now 3 months in, 2 trips to the main dealer...

    One pedal driving vs KERs

I like to use OPD all the time, but exiting my garage forwards is tricky because the available width is narrowed by the electric door activation arms, they protrude about 60 to 70mm either side of the frame, giving me about 60mm clearance either side which is a tad tight , meaning I drive slowly...

    Dangerous Adaptive cruise control

Thanks for the support @Weeble, I too like the car, it's particularly comfortable with a very nippy turn of speed, unmatched by many a lot more expensive. I've got used to the annoying foibles, but I strongly consider the ACC to be more than a foible, in the wrong hands, especially let's say a...

    Dangerous Adaptive cruise control

Latest news, still no improvement! I picked up the car yesterday (Friday) lunchtime, was told awaiting a response from MG, but a s II got to Penton MG Salisbury, the reply was miraculously there, record time even to my surprise, I like Penton MG, they have given me great support in sales and...

MG4 Ticking/Rattling Noise Coming From Behind The Steering Wheel

I had similar if not exactly the same with my previous MG4, it was exactly as your video, I found it was the plastic screen behind the steering wheel, kind of rattle or tick, by holding the screen to the plastic surround, the noise stopped, have you tried doing that? I thought of jamming...

    MGS6 getting closer

I spoke to our local MG sales manager and a couple of his sales team, regarding the snotty email I sent to MG regarding the irregularities of my S5 adaptive cruise control (in today to try and sort it out) He pointed me towards the new S6, which had only just arrived on the transporter and...

    MGS6 getting closer

Saw my first MGS6 in the flesh this morning at our local Salisbury MG dealership.it was absolutely chucking it down with rain, I'll take a closer look tomorrow when I pick my S5 after they fix my Adaptive Cruise Control (, not holding breath) Definitely looked good in a rather nice metallic...

Fast charging points between Devon and Gatwick

Yes the Octopus Electrverse card is good, but I still prefer Tesla where they are available to non Tesla car owners. Tesla's prices are very keen too, charging costs vary, with non-members typically paying around 60p per kWh, quite a saving on some ridiculously expensive options.

Also a great Tesla at Darts Farm, Exmouth Rd, Exeter EX3 0QH, a really good cafe, restaurant and good quality shops.

Fast charging points between Devon and Gatwick

There are loads, especially as already mentioned Solstice Park, Amesbury, just off the A303, easy access, has a big capacity with Gridserve and Instavolt, Although I like to use Tesla Superchargers, wherever possible and must be the ones open to all car makes. The favourite for me on the way...

Wiper blade size and hook type

The S5 has exactly the same size rear blade as the 4 Clive haha. I found one on Amazon mid September, but if you recall, it needed a small mod to the slot the hook fits into. "Rear wiper" sounds like a nursing home term for someone the manager isn't too keen on !!
