Chinese Evs in the States are essentially banned since they have 100% tariffs on them.
Also this is not Trump's doing. It was Biden that introduced this.
It is all down to drawing attention to the article. For long time now BYD has been promoted by the press as the Tesla killer. Now they are ahead of Tesla on volume they use them as benchmark for Chinese infiltration in the car market of Europe.
Indeed I looked a bit further and the car got zero when NCAP changed their approach regarding scoring. It does miss side airbags but the rest of the downgrading was due to lack of all the active protection 'crap' which we all switch off lol...
Blimey.... that's a long time waiting for a repair...
No wonder if this was not a warranty repair and the hire car was through insurance why insurance prices are sky high...
Get the Electroverse card; you do not even need to be Octopus client. I have used it with my old Tesla, my wife's BYD and now with the IM6. No problems whatsoever.
I would also suggest to download the Ionity and Instavolt apps. You just need to register and log with your account. I have used...
You are getting the 7kw one only; I can confirm this.
As for a 'granny' charger you can find them almost everywhere. Avoid any from amazon though...
A good place I bought cables in the past (and still use) is this site:
https://toughleads.co.uk/
I presume bigger profit margins on private sales compared to fleet deals?
I remember the same thing being discussed on Tesla forums when Model 3 first hit our shores.
Bigger margin sales were prioritised for quite a while. Can't blame them....
Heh; I was thinking about the Long Range too initially; but then test drove the Launch and the air suspension is like driving on a carpet. Had a chat with the powers be (thank God she was with me at the test drive) and approval was given :)
No regrets!
I am using android auto all the time so I have not run out of data to see what happens.
My wife's BYD when you run out data (she can't be bothered with android auto lol) apps don't function, live data on navigation is dead and also voice commands! Limit is the same by the way; 1 GB.
With my...
I was reading yesterday an interview by Guy Pigounakis; head of MG in the UK.
Apparently they are running really low on stock; but at the moment MG is waiting for 20,000! cars to be arriving on our shores in the next couple of weeks.
Who knows; one of these carriers may be loaded with IMs only :)
Where my wife got her BYD was initially a Ford only dealership.
When they started offering the BYDs it was a small group of people. Now they doubled the size of the team on the BYD side and their other site stopped Fords all together and went full BYD.
If you could hold on for a couple of months the MG4 urban ex demo should do the trick.
Any thoughts on the BYD dolphin?
There are some low mileage ones on autotrader around 15k.
I have been in one, lovely cars and well spaced inside.
Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted already but apparently the tow bar option is now available by MG:
https://www.mg.co.uk/accessories/mg-im6
This is without the whirring; that is another £330...
A bit steep price; reckon would be around £1000 with installation just the towbar. Not...
They do this indeed. Problem is that people are influenced by these so called reviews.
Then when the affected company takes the legal road they complain about freedom of press/speech etc lol.
I am just fed up with people being in position to state whatever they want regardless of how clueless...
Bloody hell these so called youtube 'reviewers'.
Just seen another one last night; not going to put a link since I don't think the guy deserves a single view.
Sets the car on sport mode; keeps bashing it around and then complains about the brakes which he obviously left on default settings...
Some pictures taken today during lunch break. Lighting is awful; apologies.
The beading effect on water though is amazing. I don't recall seeing this before with any product I have used. Now I need to see for how long it will retain this effect.
Weather being relatively decent yesterday I gave the car its first wash.
Can't say I really enjoyed it; size and some awkward shapes at the front needed some extra attention to remove all muck accumulated.
What really impressed me though and I wanted to share my experience was a new ceramic...
1. Needed a new car since my previous diesel although lovely was on its last legs
2. High mileage driver then. Was paying an arm and a leg on fuel.
3. Had planned for solars and batteries so having an EV made even more financial sense.
One of the first things that I bought when I got my first car in the UK was a tyre tread depth gauge.
I use them on both our cars every month. It is shocking that people can't be arsed to check something so simple.
Fully agree on the fact that Tesla's attitude that no service is needed is...
Apparently data came from DVSA regarding highest % of cars failing MOT in 2025 for the UK:
THE 10 CARS WITH THE WORST FIRST MOT PASS RATES IN 2025
Make & modelNumber of MOTs...
No idea. I guess if it can detect it as a parking slot it could?
I remember reading another post that it detected a driveway.
It can't do mine since it is quite long.
Wife wouldn't mind this tbh. Not doing more than 20 miles per day.
Problem is, she likes the elevated seat of an SUV and her pano roof.
Is someone makes an EV like that for around 20k 👌
To further add on my post. There is a significant portion of drivers who think they need EVs with big...
Resurrecting this one.
I think I managed to find the optimum settings for 'fuel' efficiency that suit my driving style at least.
So far I was using ECO and was getting 2 to 2.2 miles per kw. Recently I started de-activated the regen mode and that improved the figures up to 2.2 to 2.5 miles per...
I would actually prefer a robot to a human for taking care of me.
A robot will not get tired, will not be angry or yell at me if I piss my pants, will not be carrying his own problems and worries and it will be there for me 24h, 7 days every week of the year.
Problem with Tesla at the moment is the lack of variety. Not everybody wants either a saloon or an SUV.
Software they are great. Batteries they are falling behind. While the majority of batteries are from third parties they are not moving quick enough on charging speeds and there is no...
