News on delivery of first Batch of IM6

I had an update today too. Car ordered through company salsac early Nov (Ayvens scheme, who ordered through Norton Way, who have been helpful and open about the lack of info MG share). Originally given a delivery date of 19 Feb (which became 27 Feb) based on the standard 16 week lead time, which is meaningless but all they can provide. Today I received car-specific information. It's "at sea" due into Portbury on 16 March, with a delivery date to my address of 10 April (although I was told this is pessimistic and earlier in April is more likely). IM6 Performance, grey outside, white inside. Hope that's useful for others.

Did you cancel yours in the end Mikey? Or any updates on dates from Ben?
Hi mate,

I ended up cancelling. I took an extended test drive after my local dealer only gives like 30 mins and while nice it just didn’t give me the ‘feeling’ I first had seeing the car and my other half had a meltdown at the size of the car and just couldn’t feel confident driving/parking it and there will be occasions they will be driving my car.

They also got overwhelmed with the tech 🙄 so with the lack of info from Vertu and the drama of trying to get them to drive it I took the decision to cut my losses and order another car - so went for the Nissan Leaf 75kw Evolve - very different beast but it feels more ‘manageable’ 🙄 - lovely looking car and comfy - not driven it yet but loved the drive of the Ayria so a fairly safe option - was also much cheaper on the monthly’s.

WOW an IM6 to a Leaf. Not much difference. 🤪 Enjoy your new motor. 🙂👍
Hah yeh I know but as MG Clive says I have a few dealers near me, claimed range of 386 miles (yeh right!) google infotainment system which was amazing in my Polestar, lovely interior and it has some buttons and knobs omg retro 😆 (saw it at an event) - plus not going to get earache and moans as it is half the size of the IM6 (almost!). In reality there is only two of us and a mid sized labradoodle- so the Leaf will be absolutely fine size wise!

I can understand your choice although they are 2 completely different cars.
My wife when we went to test drive the IM6 was gobsmacked by the size of it. She did say that she will never drive it.
To be fair she has her Atto3 so no probs.
Weirdly enough she never drove the model 3 for the six years I had it. Women lol.

Aye, they drive a Volvo EX30 as their daily so it would have been a rare occasion them driving my car, they managed the Polestar (just) but the IM6 was just anther jump up size wise and honestly I prefer a quieter life lol.

Well Nik
My wife was gobsmacked when she first saw our im6 swearing that she would never drive it —- mmm, I can’t keep her out of it now, she tears around in it and she says “ it handles better than both the bmw ix and the Skoda enyaq that we have had in the past”. She loves the fact that the steering makes it really easy for her in tight places. ( I would like her to use the auto parking features - but it’s a step too far for her at the moment).
So the only real problem I’m having with the car is keeping her out of it long enough so that I get to have a go !

Lease company tells me mine has slipped from late March to early April. No actual date yet.

Just gone through 60k miles in my FL5…. I’m like a child waiting for Christmas.

Vertu have confirmed mine is in stock but NHS Fleet Solutions are not registering any more cars on a '75 plate so delivery arranged for 2 March with a '26 plate. Can manage a couple more weeks wait, also confirmed it will be coming with mats!

Hope others have had good news!

Just had my email from fleet solutions to set a date from the 3rd March!

Don't say it comes with mats 🙈 I ordered a set months ago

I thought the mats supplied with the vehicle were those velour ones that probably need protecting. TBH More interested in what cables I might get.

No mats with my im6, and just one cable in the boot for connecting to an untethered charger. 👍

For clarity, the IMs come with carpet but no mats. I always put in rubber ones as I play lots of golf, hike and have a dog!

Cables, as Don said just a 7kw for untethered chargers.

Hi all.

I ordered an IM6 Launch Ed. (Nevis Blue/White Interior) via salsac (Tusker) on 2nd Feb. I was given an order number and the dealership detail a couple of days after. On Tusker, my order still says “On Order Awaiting Build Slot”. My current salsac car lease ends mid April, and since my company changed car lease providers, I’m moving from one provider to another, so the exchange isn’t going to be a straight swap.

Anyway, keeping this in mind, I asked Tusker for a mid-April delivery for the IM6, and they said they’ll pass this onto the dealership.

However, as I looked on here and other owners’ forums, seeing people expected to receive theirs in Mar/Apr when they ordered back in Oct had me worried.

So, I called the dealership to confirm the “mid-April” delivery estimate that is currently stated on my order page. The dealership then advised that my car is slated to arrive in the UK between mid to end of March, and they’ll hold until mid-April for delivery.

Given I only ordered a couple of weeks ago, doesn’t that March arrival date seem a bit early? Or is it because it’s the launch edition and they already had quite a few of them pre-made in different configurations, ready to ship when ordered? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was reading yesterday an interview by Guy Pigounakis; head of MG in the UK.
Apparently they are running really low on stock; but at the moment MG is waiting for 20,000! cars to be arriving on our shores in the next couple of weeks.
Who knows; one of these carriers may be loaded with IMs only :)

My IM5 is expected mid-April and is already at sea (due to dock 16th March), so you might be lucky in that they sent over extras to try get ahead of the shortage and one of them happens to be the exact spec you ordered.

I'm also with Tusker. If your dealer is sure it's on a boat then your Tusker order will update soon.

Remains to be seen if it materialise. But it is very possible. MG didn't expect the demand initially and didn't place enough orders to the factory. After launch, they realised their mistake and probably requested more cars.

Now these things aren't as straightforward as it seems as it depends on the deal with the distributor, dealership and manufacturer. IIRC my dealer told me initially they were not meant to pre reg any car. So anything they order from MG UK, as to have a named driver attached to it. But perhaps due to the demand and goodwill they are getting regarding the IMs, SAIC allowing MG to bring in more cars. We know how quick they can churn these cars out so it's not like manufacturing capacity is a limiting factor. Unlike Alfa Romeos which aside from the annual August summer shutdown, also had to contend with low volumes, staff furloughs etc. SAIC robots have no rights <LOL!>
