MG4 - How do I turn it off..?

SWI69-29558-1100R38 ... mine's an early SE SR. I don't recall if 1100R33 introduced it, but it's certainly there in 1100R38. And no, I'm not going back outside in the pouring rain just to try it. :p

Battery capacity not match with consumption figures

The ER has a nominal 77kWh battery pack, with about 74kWh usable (per the specs). As per above I'd be interested in how you calculated 68kWh.

MG4 - How do I turn it off..?

LFP longevity not panning out in the real world?

£30 of petrol to cover, what? 400 miles in a month? So that's a shade over 13p per mile. If I seriously underestimate my range at 125 miles for 50kWh of electricity, and use 25p per kWh as the cost, that's £12.50 for 125 miles = 10p per mile. Yeah - no way you're going to get anywhere near his...

We only get 2-pin plug devices for things like electric shavers and similar. But even some devices with 3-pin plugs aren't actually earthed ... for example I have a USB charger unit in my desk drawer that has an earth pin but it is made of plastic.

    Equalisation charge - NMC battery

Received wisdom is that the former applies ... the <10% (or whatever, depending on car model) to 100% and balance charge should be done on an AC charge point and in a single, contiguous session.
  22. siteguru

    Equalisation charge - NMC battery

The bottom line (if you have an NMC battery pack) ... Balancing at any SoC is better than not balancing at all Balancing at 100% is better still Try to do a <10% to 100% calibration charge then final balance at least every 6 months (to recalibrate the BMS). 4 pages of thread condensed. 😎😂

Thinking about an MG4. What do I get?

Agreed. Back when I got mine, when the only option was list price, the SE LR was £2.5k more expensive than the SE SR ... £2.5k buys you a hell of a lot of kWh, even at motorway prices. I rarely do trips which exceed the range of the SE SR, so it was a no-brainer for me. :)

Anyone using car battery to power house ?

The effect is the same ... the "plug to plug" arrangement would send V2L power into the ring main circuit that it is plugged into. This still has the same earthing risk as you can't isolate the earth at the consumer unit. So no, we're not conflating two issues - they both are risky and...
  62. siteguru

Anyone using car battery to power house ?

I've already told you why it's not safe ... if the earth line gets a voltage on it (which is possible because the car V2L is floating) then someone working on the power supply to your house (i.e. upstream) may get a shock; and that shock has the potential to be lethal. That "UK Power guy" needs...

Anyone using car battery to power house ?

The problem with a boiler system is the pipework ... that will be earthed, and will probably share the earth with the boiler. Thus when connecting to V2L it's not much different from connecting V2L to your consumer unit - the same (upstream) earth risks apply.

Anyone using car battery to power house ?

The circuit breakers don't isolate the earth ... that's the real problem as it means someone working upstream on the feed to your house may encounter voltage on the earth line, which could be a safety issue. (The V2L power has a floating earth).
