From very recent experience I can testify that the smallest of pebble, hardly making any noise hitting the windscreen, can end creating a crack half a meter long. The impact sound was so low that if I hand been talking or listing to music I would not have noticed it. I couldn't see no damage...

That would explain a lot, as I never uses the onboard navigation

The manual (for my model and year - MG4 ER) only mentions camera

To the best of my knowledge it does NOT use maps, but purely camera. That said, it is very "inventive". When on motorways (130 km/h) it sees an off-ramp it can look "a long way into the country side" and find a 50 km/h sign, which it then nags me with for the next hour, still on the motorway...

I didn't go down that route. I just ordered a new credit card 🤔

The answer in No from here, but,,,, I've left mine for 7 weeks without any issue. Instead of setting up some elaborate for while away, I'd suggest having a jump start power bank ready, if and only if it turns out to be needed. Seems like a more sure thing solution.

Not exactly an answer to your question. My experience is that sign recognition is so flawed that I won't use it. When driving on motorways it picks up reduced speeds on the off ramps Your experience may vary

Thanks for the very elaborate details. It's amazing what this forum have of information 🙏 It has made my decision easier. I will order a new credit card and leave it to some car archeology to ponder on what has gone on in this car 🤔😁
