MG4 Long Range Software Updates (UK)

Hi,

looking at my car's software versions it lists: -

MPU Software Version - SW169029958-1100R21

MCU Software Version - 69.3.5.0

I believe the R21 is the key part of the version that eveyone mentions and R21 is quite old. What do these two version numbers relate to. Is part of it it just the Infotainment system?

I've had the car in for two services and the official service place in Scarborough (called Drive) said they would do a software update for the Lane Assist but didn't update anything else. We've spoken to them and they said they thought the updates were OTA but to be honest as a team they're a bit naff. I've tried speaking to them again on this and they just keep saying they'll call back but never do.

So.... How do the rest of you MG4 owners in the UK get your software updated?

That does not exist for (my) MG4
I hope it's not a MG dealership!

Can you double check the software release please? Do you mean SWI69-29958-1100R21?

If yes then that is very old .. mine is on SWI69-29958-1100R45 (although I loaded that one myself - the last one my dealer applied was 1100R38). Ergo, your dealer is as much use as a chocolate fireguard .. what other software updates have they missed?

But yes, that (and the related MCU) are for the Infotainment display plus interfacing with other control modules. The history of Info releases for the SE are (to my knowledge):

1100R13 (what mine came with, had external temperature indication to 0.5°C increments)
1100R16 (lost the external temperature indication)
1100R21 (yours)
1100R33 (my first update - changed the HVAC display, and the external temp was in 1°C increments)
1100R38 (my second update - rescaled the HVAC target temperature gauge to allow a more sensible temp setting [21 vs 25 for comfort], and was accompanied by an HVAC firmware update)
1100R45 (applied by me via USB - not really noticed much difference vs R38)

You cannot read the R number alone it is linked to the previous characters.
