What happens to rejected cars?

The 2 I rejected were
1st one was at Charles Warner Lincoln
Red SE SR
LL72 KBJ
They said they were going to use it as a demonstrator

2nd was Read MG Grimsby
Also red SE SR
LL72 KBZ

Not got a clue what they're planning on doing
Personally I wouldn't touch anything to do with Grimsby MG.

Charles Warner were fantastic and very honest when processing my rejection.
Took about 10 minutes to actually hand the keys over do the paperwork V5 etc and have the money in my bank.

Read MG took about 10 days and even then I had to do all the leg work, ringing them every day to keep asking when I would see the money back in my account.
Even the last day I was promised it was on its way multiple times even though it was promised the previous day after we returned the MG5 they loaned me.
We did around 600 miles running about with Read MG since buying the car and trying to get my money back
75 miles each way

I tried with both these cars but sadly the MG4 is not for me with the issues I had with both of them.
HI all,

been a while since I've dropped in.
But I just noticed my 2nd MG4 that I rejected is up for sale on Autotrader
LL72KBZ

Which being as it was rejected at the end of November, would mean that its been sat around for over 3 months too judging by the mileage which hasn't changed much since I handed it back.

The issues I had with this car were widely documented by myself previously.
Oil Leak, Bad driver seat, other issues, wobbling wheels at speed etc.
You guys know the drill by now and the variety of faults these cars can have.

Some of the issues may have been resolved.
But at £25899 for a 2nd hand car that was actually a rejection vehicle, I think they're taking the pi$$ somewhat.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else was looking at it.

Have just bought a 3 year old Tesla model 3, still under warranty with 31k miles on it for a little bit over £30k.
So only had to put £3k to over the MG4.

Not a new car but God damn it feels like one compared to both MG4's.
It's a whole other level is Tesla.

The whole MG4 experience has been traumatic to say the least.

But now I finally feel like I can enjoy my new car now even though it's 3 years old.

The customer service is awesome too.
I have found a foggy tail light at the back yesterday, which is covered under warranty.
Sent a service request last night via the Tesla app for them to change it and do a wiring loom recall check too that also popped up in the app.
They're actually sending a Tesla Ranger to my house on Friday to do the work.

Now that's how you look after a customer/owner MG !
How comes you rejected the two?

Just saw your post.

@Jester27 when rejecting your cars, did you only involve the dealer or finance as well?
Maybe yours were bought and no finance.
I’ve rejected my car on email to the dealer, but no response yet ( perhaps the after sales manager I addressed it to is on holiday and too dim to put an OOO message on, I will chase it/him on Monday )
TBH I’ve no idea what level of refund I’m entitled to, I’d quite happily settle for the PCP finance being cancelled and my £1500 deposit being returned, that will allow me to move on.
A refund of every bloody penny I’ve spent on this piece of dogdirt would be the dream.
A used M3 is definitely on my list to replace the MG.

Both mine were bought cash so was only through dealer.
So I received a full refund.
I would have thought same would apply with finance too if you're still within the first 30 days though.
But I'd speak to the finance company and get them on side too.
Many of the MG4's aren't fit for purpose, especially as it's a brand new car.
The way MG have handled this whole MG4 thing is a disgrace.
Tesla service has been unbelievable.
Best service from ANY manufacturer I've ever experienced.

I’ll get the finance company involved.
TBH I feel I’ve got such a clear-cut case I shouldn’t need anyone ‘on side’ as such.
Collected 5/11/22.
Umpteen faults that have resulted in at least 9 weeks at the dealer.
The last episode was 7 weeks at the dealer, MG wanted a chance to repair, they’ve failed.
A solicitor would have a field day with this ( hoping I don’t need one, but prepared to )

If you have home insurance with legal cover, perhaps this would fall under their faulty goods coverage?

Further to my own Home insurance policy with Aviva, faulty motor vehicles are covered under their legal cover;

This would be one avenue worth pursuing if you are covered by a home insurance policy.

Wow that's shocking.
That is exactly what I feared had I kept both of mine that it would just go on and on with no real resolve.
MG haven't really acknowledged anything with regard to MG4 faults.
As I said when I rejected mine, I wasn't prepared to be MG's guinea pig for their lack of ability to build a decent car with no faults.
I know cars are complex but it's how it's dealt with that's important.
You only find out how good a manufacturer is and also the dealers when there's a fault
Sadly MG have failed on both counts.
Good luck and keep pushing for a full refund.
Normally after 30 days it can be reduced but being as yours has spent weeks at the dealer it's moot point in my opinion.
Not fit for purpose.
My first one was begining of October and second was begining of November
It's now 5 months since the cars first hit the UK and they've still not sorted them out.
It's a disgrace.
You're right a solicitor would have a field day.
All the best and keep us informed

Nice 2.5 year old M3 arriving into local dealer soon, be nice to get a result asap.
Only another £70 a year insurance for the Tesla too, up to a whopping £288 a year!
Ha!

Apologies if you've already done your homework but if you can you really want to push to a late 2020 / early 2021 facelift model if you can. That gets the heat pump, the removal of the black piano plastics and a dechromed exterior, amongst some other small upgrades.

We were pretty close to opting for one. A good car.

Ask if it’s a facelift one.
Good tip, ta

That's a bargain for your insurance.
Mine went up quite a bit from the MG4 paying nearly £600 but it was a short notice purchase so hopefully will go down again next time.
Just bear in mind mileage for Tesla warranty.
It's 4 years or up to 50k miles which ever comes soonest.
I had 1 year or 20k left on mine.
You can take another 4 years 50k out too if done before current one runs out.
But it's £2.5k
Still at £168 per hour it wouldn't take long to get your money back should you need it.
I may go this route myself.

Keep an eye on the Tesla used inventory too.
They have some real bargains on there at the minute due to facelift being announced soon.
I could have got a newer long range one now for what I paid.
And you also get an extra year warranty with Tesla and most have enhanced auto pilot added to them too which is £3.5k to add on later

My quote for an MG came back at £5.8k, luckily I'm getting mine through salary sacrifice😅

Cheers for the tips.
Still interested in a Tesla, but the local Renault dealer is doing great deals on the Megane EV, so I’m erring towards that.
220bhp is enough, and the higher driving position is better for my umpteen-motorbike-crashes hip.
