Hello gang, just wondering what kind of break-in period you followed on your own Xpowers before really pushing/testing it (launch control, extended hard acceleration/braking, high speed runs etc). I've only done very short bursts thus far and mostly tried to baby it.

I just crossed 1100km, and the only thing I could find in the owner's manual was 1500km, but that only specifically referenced tires and brakes to avoid hard braking.

I'm reallllllllllly itching to test the launch control feature but want to be sensitive to the battery etc. It is a lease, but the buyout will be so cheap at the end (vs another car with similar credentials anyway) that I definitely plan to keep it. Thoughts

For everyday driving I did'nt really do any "running in" apart from avoiding launch control and cornering too hard on the new tyres. I did some light to moderate braking but now after 1000 miles I do occasional harder braking from high speed to clean the discs once a week.
Thanks for your feedback! When did you first test launch control? (I'm assuming you have 😈😁)

(and break-in vs running-in...you can take the boy out of America, but you can't take the America out of the boy haha). I try to use the appropriate UK terminology when I know/remember!

Bricktop will give a better answer than me on this 😁😁😉

I tried it after about 1000 miles but rarely find I need to use it .... it's so fast off the line anyway 😂

Only if some similar powered ICE performance car came up alongside at the traffic lights would I show them who's boss with LC 😁 ... and only then if I was in a playful mood. My car's such a "sleeper look" I can pick and choose when to play.

Easy enough to launch away from the lights as long as you can see the other lights changing, so you can start your sequence.

But there really is no need.
A hard application of the throttle and your off! and not much short of another, well driven X Power is coming with you.
4WD automatically engaged even if you are not in sport mode. 👍

The novelty of launching will wear off.
But the sheer acceleration, any time you choose?
It just won't.

Caveat.... Make sure you have plenty of electrons on board 😉

Yea I don't plan to make it a regular thing at all, BUT I do want to make sure it works 😆

From what I've just read elsewhere, it doesn't seem necessary for EVs with respect to the battery and motor(s). So I'll take my chances with premature wear of the tires (likely to be changed well before being worn) and brake pads.
Thanks for the responses 😊

Agreed.
It is a totally different mindset to your ICE.
I never asked too much of any of my Performance Cars until I had at least 10 miles running from a cold start.

Electric motors can go from All to Nothing in an instant.

I've never let my drill warm up before drilling a hole in my wall for example.

My nutribullet is straight to full power and working hard.

(Stop Laughing!@JonnyG!
Yes I have a nutribullet!!🤣🤣)

You can set off in your X Power and get straight to it, if you're that way inclined.
(I am)
The only issue is usually the very first application of the brakes, but after that, they're fine.

In my experience, I’ve had some success with the following regularly reset all your trip data if possible before charging, don’t pay much attention to mileage for a few 100 miles and more on charge % and top up charge from 40-90% you will soon find that your mileage increases I’ve had it at 84% with 205 miles, have no idea if I actually got 205 miles as I have it in sports mode and 1 pedal all the time Great fun, its so quick you don’t get chance to realise your going that fast lol 😂

I have also noticed the vibration in the steering wheel between 65-75mph has improved after driving it a bit just over those speeds
