Has anyone test driven both the trophy/luxury and the xpower? What were your thoughts? Were there things you preferred one over the other? I hear a lot of benefits of both but beyond the obvious with/without second engine, what thought/experience made you choose one over the other?

Going to test drive a trophy on Friday but there are no xpowers to try where I live in Spain.

What car are you coming from? What do you normally drive?

Personally, I would say the Trophy/Luxury has enough power to drive dynamically.
What is important to me overall is efficiency rather extreme power.
Because of all the regulations, that power is rarely usable on the day to day, while the "efficiency" is enjoyable everyday.

Coming from a 2018 golf tdi with a 0-60 of around 10ish sec i think so even the trophy would be quicker, though not sure if would notice?
Coming from the Golf, I think you will find the Trophy plenty quick enough.
I reckon you will be quite surprised just how quick it is!

You will notice, especially off the lights.
No clutch, no gearshift, electronic handbrake - just stomp on the accelerator and you're GONE!

Thank you everybody, appreciate the very quick feedback, it's really useful. Hopefully this can add to other people that may have the same query when choosing.

The price is also another factor. With the spanish government help the trophy/luxury is €28k (£24k) and the Xpower is €32k (£28k) so both are super reasonably priced. The xpower has a back order of 6 months though 😟

Yes you will. The Trophy is roughly equivalent to a Golf GTi (feels as quick even if a bit slower), the XPower is somewhat faster than a Golf R, may scare you.

My last car was a Ford Focus diesel. Official figures say it was 0-60 in 10.4 seconds

My Long Range Trophy figures I’ve mostly seen at 0-60 in 7.7 seconds ( there are a few YouTube videos where owners say it’s quicker? )

But it’s not just the 0-60 but putting your foot down from 30-40mph upwards. To me the Trophy feels so much quicker than my Focus

I’d love to feel the acceleration in an X Power but as an everyday car my Trophy is more than enough for me person + I’d much rather have the longer range

This post is going to need some :

When (if) you feel the acceleration in an X Power, you will decide that this would be great as an everyday Land Based Missile and stuff the inconvenience of a shorter range! 🤣

Caveat:
Being retired and not having very far to go makes it a much more attractive proposition.

Tbh buddy you are 100% right 😂

Even my MG dealer offered me a test drive in one but the I just knew I’d end up thinking with my heart & not my head if I accepted

Not that I think the X Power wouldn’t suit me (not sure the wife would have been happy) but being this is my first EV & was very nervous about range or lack of it (I’ve been proved very wrong on this) I wanted a car with maximum range possible. I did look at the MG4 Extended Range but was a longer wait

You know you made the right decision,
and I know you made the right decision.
And that's all that matters.

Don't tell anyone, but I actually went into the showroom, determined to buy a LR Trophy.......
My wife got the better of me.

(Shh, you ain't seen me, right.)
🤣🤣🤣

You're on the Isle of Wight and you were concerned about range? Sorry, what?

I realised before I bought the car that the important thing was how long a round trip did I want to be able to do from home without recharging. Get a car that can do that even in freezing temperatures, and it's absolute bliss. I don't care a button what the maximum range is most of the time, because even in winter I'm doing 100 miles and coming home on 30% charge, in an SE SR.

And when I do long road trips, well I'm going to have to stop to charge anyway. Do I care if it's one time more than it would have been with the LR? Not really. Not £2,500 worth anyway. (Plus the extra hassle of molly-coddling an NMC battery.)

My wife got the better of me but not in my favour.

I wanted the Volcano Orange (I believe that’s the correct name) but she didn’t. Well she didn’t actually say anything, I just got that “look” lol

She/we decided on the Camden Grey in the end but I do like it.

Have you seen @JonnyG's X Power in Camden Grey?
Very Tasty.

I testdrove both the standard and the xpower. I needed the traction so went for xpower, but really liked the comfort of the standard, also with the higher tire sidewall. And the turning circle was really great on the rwd. Price wise I can't justify a luxury over a standard. The standard is really cheap!
