Has anyone test driven both the trophy/luxury and the xpower? What were your thoughts? Were there things you preferred one over the other? I hear a lot of benefits of both but beyond the obvious with/without second engine, what thought/experience made you choose one over the other?

Going to test drive a trophy on Friday but there are no xpowers to try where I live in Spain.

Have you seen @JonnyG's X Power in Camden Grey?
Very Tasty.

That looks very smart !!

I wonder if he would be interested swapping wheels with me? 😂

When (if) you feel the acceleration in an X Power, you will decide that this would be great as an everyday Land Based Missile and stuff the inconvenience of a shorter range! 🤣

Caveat:
Being retired and not having very far to go makes it a much more attractive proposition.
Im retired too but my partner has a 500 mile range diesel bmw . Was going to change to extended Range but then I thought ex demo xpower 27k and so much fun bit less range than my se lr but who cares….

That would be a nope ... sorry 😁😁😉

I see the new revised Golf GTi 8.5 has slightly similar wheels now too.

Personally, I would say the Trophy/Luxury has enough power to drive dynamically.
What is important to me overall is efficiency rather extreme power.
Because of all the regulations, that power is rarely usable on the day to day, while the "efficiency" is enjoyable everyday.
Not too sure about the 'efficiency' part!
Completed my first 100 mile motorway run yesterday and only saw 3.5miles/kW briefly, completed the run at 3.4
Same journey in my 3 year old Ioniq (which is a bigger car) would have been 4+

What was the actual mileage for kW used? The display might not be accurate, also on the Ioniq, in the same way most ICE mpg displays aren't accurate.

It is our regular run to see our daughter in Cheshire, a trip we do many times per year.
The figures I'm quoting come from the 'From Start of Journey' screens in both cars.

Often used to see 5+ in the Ioniq (in the summer), and I make no allowances for driving an EV (Normal mode, A/C on, cruise at 75).

For some reason I just expected the newer technology in the MG to give me better numbers.

Range isn’t an issue if you have a home charger.

I got the XPower because I wanted to experience the EV revolution every time I drive. EVs will only get faster - or rather, more and more cheap EVs will be fast - so going for a conservative choice risks leaving yourself feeling you don’t have the fun factor that EVs increasingly offer. I wanted to shut down that risk on day one.

The speedo on the MG4 seems to be very accurate. I don't know about the Ioniq, but most speedos over-read by a fair margin ... 75 indicated is more like a real 68-70. In the MG4, 75 indicated is more like 74-75. This could account for (some of) the seeming better efficiency of the Ioniq. 🤷‍♂️
